Hi.

I bought some pre owned cleveland irons from AG on Tuesday.

I only tested the PW and 5 Iron and they were good. But the guy never bothered to tell me the set was missing a 5i. So it consisted of 4, 6, 7, 8, 9 & PW. So would i be able to take them back and demand my money back to put towards another set? Ive used them once on the course.......and thats when i realised they were missing a 5i.

You did well with testing it then :smirk:

Yeah it would seem so. Im a beginner to golf and i wasnt toally sure what i was looking at. And the fella gave me the 7i and PW to test, nothing else.

So do you have any idea on the return policy or did you just come here to mock me :smirk:

I would have thought, unless specifically stated, that it would be sold as a complete iron set.

My local AG has a set of AP2's in at the minute missing the 6 iron and that is specifically stated on the shelf tag.

If the set was advertised as complete, I would be asking AG where your 5 iron is.

I cant remember what it said on the the small tag on one of the club shafts and now ive taken it off. But say i took them back and said they were unused would i be entitled to a refund?

No because you would be misrepresenting the position, You werent sure what you were looking at and cant recall exactly what you were sold but are expecting AG to provide you with a full set even though you may have bought a set that was advertised as missing the 5 iron.

It is possible that you may have left the club on the course

Just checked the receipt and there is no mention on the receipt of it being a full set. It says Cleveland CG7 irons each £89. Thats it.

It also states that i would be entitled to an exchange value of what i paid if i found the clubs unsutiable

As a beginner to the game I would suggest that Cleveland CG7 arent really appropriate clubs, you would be better off trying the TM burners or equivalent beginners clubs that help get the ball in the air, possibly some older Ping G15/20

Take them back and advise them you want beginners clubs, AG will often sell you what you think you want rather than what you really need - selling, rather than helping can often be the name of the game

But would i be within my rights to get a full money exchange do you think?

Based on the receipt you'd be entitled to an exchange and if your going to buy another set from them then can't see the issue

Saying that though I've had a few issues with my local AG this year as highlighted on here in another thread. After much complaining on their head office I received £50 in vouchers as a good will gesture from them, can't bring myself to use them because the service was so poor on more than one occasion so have given them to my brother to buy balls with.

The way I see it is AG either didnt know or they did know and then should have mentioned it.Take them back no doubt AG will only give you same value on something else instore.
Use your local pro shops in future

Before the witch hunt starts why not ring them or pop along and talk to them and give them a chance to help you before people start slagging of AG again

No good asking a forum ask the actual shop for the answer would be my advice

It was indeed Maidstone, had 2 incidents over a couple month period at start of the year which were IMO diabolical customer service

Thats a shame. Don't pop in there very often (usually when the missus is shopping and i want free parking!) but have bought a couple of bits off them without any problems.

Well I rang them today and it turns out my 5i was just sitting behind the counter as the guy serving me had forgot to pack it with the other clubs. Im relieved to get it.....but its pathetic customer service imo. They could have at least rang or even emailed me to say id forgotten it.

Maybe an exchange, but even you can't remember if they were sold as a bundle with the 5i missing or not and have already had a round with them. Sounds a bit cheeky expecting your money back.
