Did anyone try out the AG and TM promotion in store over the weekend? Basically try out one of the new TM drivers and pick up a cap or sleeve of balls.

Well yesterday I went along to what was a pretty empty store, late on just before they closed. Tried out the Jetspeed driver in the monitor, with little time to play about and with only a few options available (basic shafts only) I was a mystified at the figures. As a low launch, low spin driver I was surprised by the 16.5 launch angle and 4500 spin characteristics. Just couldn't get any decent figures out of the club, and left 'cap in hand' but a little disappointed.

Anybody tried either of them out yet? Tempted to go back when there is more time, simply to figure out where the problem lay.

Yikes!

Looks like serious ballooning numbers. Hitting down? Tee-ed too low? Don't think a different shaft is going to make that much difference unless it was a super-soft one!

Far too few shots, and available options, for me to get an idea on what was wrong, but with only the standard Matrix shafts available at the time (I once had a HD6 in a TP burner that performed very well) I can't be sure what it might have been. Generally I'm not hitting down, and if anything it was teed higher than I normally would, so maybe these newer shafts are just not suited for me.

I didn't take up the AG offer, but I have tried Kraxx's SLDR and I don't like it, just cannot get away with it, even with the loft up I don't seem to be able to get the ball higher than flag stick height.

That said, aesthetically I really dislike it, the massive 460cc head just looks bloated.

Sounds like you need to loft down a bit.

I never made it to my local AG, after going to the range Sunday as clearly forgetting how to swing the club I thought I'd just avoid golf the whole day. I was only going for the cap anyway...

I do generally play 9.5, but it appears the magical combination of head and shaft are sometimes surprising even to me. A couple of weeks ago I hit a friends R1, which was set at 12 degrees, and had the standard R1 regular shaft in it and ..... I absolutely bombed it, huge drives with great flight. Never thought it would right as it all seemed wrong in terms of loft and shaft, but I guess it was just that lucky combination for me ... I must be getting away from the buying addiction though as I didn't feel the need to offer him cash straight away for it ;)

I popped into my local AG twice over the weekend. Once to get a new hat (bloody weather) and then again when the wife dragged me around looking for a new wachine machine in the store next door. It was empty on both occasions.

I offer wonder how on earth it stays in business. It's always dead in there.
