I received an e-mail from American Golf the other day, their fitting lab is coming to town.

Has anyone had any experience with this and if so how did it go?

I'm thinking of replacing my driver in the next couple of months (birthday on the horizon :))

A mate of mine took me along to his fitting some while back, I thought the fitting was very professional and offered my pal exactly the right set up for him

I had my driver fitting at Camberley American golf when the tour truck was there. I don't think there's a huge difference between the usual fitting and the tour truck, from what I could tell the tour truck had a few more shaft options. However, when doing the fitting the main parameter for shaft selection is your swing speed, which will most likely be stiff, the rest is down to the drivers you test. I tested the M2, M1, Callaway xr16 and the ping G series SF Tec. I was most consistent with the M2 and it has a good shaft as standard which is why I chose it.

The other things the computer spits out is backspin side spin and launch angle. The M2 again put the most favourable figures together.

All in all, a worthwhile experience, my advice would be to test as many as you can. I regret not testing the Nike vapour and mizuno JPX.
