Had an email inviting me to make a booking, however I'm not really looking to purchase anything. I'm very interested in going and having a mooch round though. Has anyone had experience of this? Would I be out of order making a booking but not buying? How hard is their sell, and how hard is it to resist??

Cheers dave

you're as out of order as test driving a car and not buying, it's there to tempt and sell you, maybe you buy maybe you don't but you have to try to find out. I'll also be testing the SLDR, Big bertha, TM Tour irons and Mizuno mp4's- it's what us golfers do:whistle:

Go for it mate, they've invited you so why not . Just don't let them pillock you into buying a £300 driver that will have you hitting the ball like Joe Miller.

I have had bad experiences with AG fits and the numbers they produce on their launch monitors especially if you are only hitting into a bay in a store. That said, nothing ventured and all that and so if you can take advantage and try all the makes and models you are interested in, then like the test drive analogy, do it, go away and have a think. If you can narrow it to a couple of makes and set ups (shafts, flex etc) then maybe try and find a range you can hit on to see how they go compared to hitting it a few feet in a bay.

If you can generate ball speed at least 156mph and up. the i25 & the SLDR's 460, 430 + TP versions completely wipe all the others out (including both new Callaway's) Only one I haven't compared the i25, SLDR's against, is the Amp Cell Pro. (Done independently on Trackman, outside, under pretty normal conditions, air temp 62, wind speed 4mph.)
But the i25 & Sldr 'numbers' definitely the beat all others for low spin rate, carry & distance and by some too.

That's 105* Swing Speed, so pushing it for most!

I mentioned your experience with the I25 to a Ping fan mate - who definitely has the SS - in a Email labelled 'Planting the Seed'!

He doesn't thank you! Gear is expensive over here - it's pretty much just change the '$' to '£'! And Oh to have 62*! Only rarely hit 50 here for the last 5 months!

Oh oh :(! If he manages to try it still, and find the money and the excuse ready after purchase if questioned by a 'loved one', doubt in golfing terms he'll regret it, especially if he already a Ping fan.

I'm sure both the Ping i25 in highest loft (but maybe G25 perhaps better at lower BS's) and SLDR has the range to 12d now, that they will no doubt work for BS below 156mph.
But a golfing buddy (4) has SS average window 104-107 mph BS circa 156mph & + or - a little, my own a tad higher, so I can vouch for 155/156 and higher delivering really good numbers, much better than I anticipated for sure.

I'm not a fan of the behemoth drivers out there at 460cc, so the SLDR 430 might tempt. Last SS was 105mph average but I'm getting on so might have to tweak shafts to keep these numbers:(
