Hi there

Have any Scottish members be to American golf at Clydebank for the free custom fit session they offer? Looking around at drivers but want to try a number of different shafts and wondered what choice they have?

Cheers

they only carry a few shafts for each driver, mostly the most popular ones. They will only have the stock options and wont have the upcharge shafts.

Cheers mate, that's what I suspected. I know Scott gourlay etc offer huge range but I was looking for somewhere closer to home as it's just a driver fitting as opposed to full bag.

Haven't used Clydebank, but have done East kilbride. For the most part, if you aren't going to be overly particular or spend the money on upcharge shafts, they're not the worst place to go- if you're likely to fit in to a fairly standard reg or stiff shaft, you'll probably have enough to keep you content, but if you're looking for something a bit more niche (just about give up hope if you're looking for an X), you might struggle.

When I did it though, there did feel like a real push to sell, to the point the guy tried to twist a few things (they use GC2 without HMT, which assumes smash factor at 1.45, yet he tried to tell me that with the 917 my smash factor had come up to 1.45, and wasn't a huge fan when it was pointed out to him that I knew it was going to be that on every shot)

Thanks. I would be looking for some more choice than just the stock shafts in regular and stiff so I'll maybe look at other options...

Not sure if this is the right Ag thread to put this in but hey ho...

popped in in to the Aintree branch earlier, wow what a change from last time I visited. Totally redesigned the place. With all the custom fitting gear going upstairs. I didn't have a proper look, but they've got 2 new hitting bays, with gc2 and flightscope (I think). And a putting green with Sam putt lab. Looks great, wish I had more time...

i think the big boss was in, as there was a bit of a hard sell theme going on, and more staff than I've ever seen. It is good to see them having a go. Looks a cracking set up so close to home
