Blame it on the John Lewis - man on the moon advt, but thinking of getting a basic (but good quality) telescope that me and kid can use. My dad could never afford buying one, so while I am fascinated by it, I have never indulged in it. So looking for something that comes with a 'planetary guide' or where to point it at kind of basics.

I had an eye on this one from JL. http://www.johnlewis.com/thames-kosmos-telescope-and-astronomy-kit/p2163350 I was hoping that they would do a black friday deal on it, but they did not. Also I dont know the quality of the kit itself. I would much rather buy something like this than a big TV.

Any telescope enthusiasts out there who can recommend something.
