Theres a lot of good players to be honest, and normally always a few surprises once the matchplay rounds start.
I've played against Andy a few times, very very good golfer, and a nice lad as well.I won't be going to watch the amateur, but might wander down Finham and watch the open qualifying.

seen him play a few times your right very good golfer, got a great chance if he can get into the matchplay, thats when it really starts, might bump into you at finham :D

I spent a pleasant hour walking around Hesketh this evening, i called on my way home from work. I watched 3 or 4 groups coming in on 18 and could also watch the par 3 16th.

I wasn't to clued up on who was who, but I enjoyed it all the same.

I'm working in Southport tommorrow So I'm Going to call at hillside.I believe the matchplay rounds start there tommorrow.

Our local interest (East Herts) is Tom Lewis. Won the st andrews cup last week so in good nick. Son of the guy who runs the range at Gosling (WGC). He (the dad) is a great bloke, and from the little I've seen of the lad, he's very pleasant and level headed. Hoping he wins, as I'd love to see him at Sandwich.

Additionally, I notice from the first post that some cash was staked on the overall outcome. I quite fancied putting some on but couldn't find an online bookie in a few minutes browsing.

If he wins I'll be very slightly gutted.

Mind you, here speaks the guy who was tipping Schwszarl to my mates before the masters and never got round to putting anything on....

didnt think they would meet that early on, sullivan finished 10 th and still had to play the favourite, lost 6&4  wont be too bad if he,s lost to the eventual winner though

Just to resussitate this thread...

Was pleased to see that Tom Lewis (victim of sweaty based pulverisation at the Amateur Championship) has qualified for the open by winning at Rye in flq.

Anyone any links to any 'best amateur' finish odds for him ?
