I play at a nine hole place. The last few weeks I've been able to enter the midweek comp ( off yellows) and a couple of seconds has seen the handicap heading in the right way.
this week in stroke play I shot a 44  handicap 25.1 receiving 12 strokes. My pp shot 43 receiving 11. Which makes us level? I finished 6 5 5 he finished 4 5 5.

Yet on the intelligent golf website it has me as the winner. How so?

thanks :)

Think it was only a 9 hole comp, although 50% of 25.1 is 12.5 so should be rounded up to 13 shots!

The course plays a shot more on the whites, par 36 as opposed to 35 off the yellows. But confuses me all the same. They have a board with all the numbers on.

I is a follower not a leader...

The CSS or SS has nothing to do with your shot allowance, if you played a 9 hole comp and that is 50% of your current handicap, then you should be playing off 13.

That's not how 9-hole QRs work. You have to apply to the national Union for a 9-hole SSS and when you get that, you also receive a chart which tells you your handicap allowance for the 9-hole comp based on your exact handicap.

PS
9-hole QRs must be played as stablefords so there's something amiss with the OP quoting medal scores.

We have 3 charts. One for the 18 holes (front 9 off whites, back off yellows) two nine hole charts one each off the whites and yellows.

and whilst every other time I've played it's been stableford, last Wednesday was definitely stroke play.

Here is the relevant extract from the CONGU handbook:

22.2 Nine-Hole Qualifying Competitions must be in Stableford format.

I can only imagine that it was a non-qualifier.

Um, that's stableford. You won on count back with 39 points, so exactly as rosecott stated.

Is strokeplay just the name of the competition then? And when given the card I was told strokeplay, but I see the 39 points.

grrr, I'm at a loss. Is this just me being daft?

There are no points in strokeplay, its just your gross score less your handicap and you have to hole out on every hole, no blobs!

Those are Stableford points - with 18 added for the back 9!

Stableford is Strokeplay - as opposed to Matchplay!

It's 'Medal' vs 'Stableford' when differentiating a comp.
