My Pro rings me today and says he and my Head Greenkeeper are heading somewhere for a knock tomorrow and will I and Screwback like to join them.

Asks where and he says he will try for one of the classic East Lothian tracks so I sign up.

2 hours later and due to East Lothian tracks being full to the brim we are booked into play one of my pet hates in Bamburgh, the place that is known by those of a certain persuasion as the Goat Track.

Will I come back tomorrow night and post about how great the course was or will I be telling you how fine the views were?

You decide.....

Looking forward to the day though!:)

Nothing wrong with goat tracks, apparently there's not enough money around to make them nicer ;)

You'll enjoy it but be seething with your 12 over round... and the banter in the bar about your 4-putt on the 12th will be hilarious!

I reckon the company will make up for your dislike of the course. Your lack of enthusiasm for the place will seep into your game and you'll have shoot four over your handicap with a lost ball. A beer and a laugh in the 19th after and you'll be fine

You'l hate the course , come on here tomoro night & tell us all you wished you hadnt played it , then tell us how much you enjoyed the company & the few socials afterwards , sumation = you will play a moderate track well (you will want to beat screwback & the other guys) & have a good time during & after it , its January Al, be glad to be geting a knock mate & feck it after that

Well,the views were nice.

Me and Screwback were 10 under better ball in shafting the Pro and the Greenkeeper and there was also a bogey thrown in there......top shooting if I do say so myself.

Just as well I didny take any shots or the game would have been over by the 10th!

Course was in decent nick, greens look awful but putted well and there was the grand total of 10 folk on the course which I find bizarre for a benign winters day.

My final thoughts?? I still only seen my ball land from the tee 6 times due to the hills so yep as great as I played it is still a goat track IMO.........great,great views though....;)

Screwback must've played awesome! :ears:

Sounds like you had a pretty good day all in all, hopefully you're glad you went now. I hate courses with blind drives... even more so courses where you can't see the ball land on the greens.

6 birdies for me and 6 for him I think, must have been maybe 20 in total from the 4 of us with the Pro chopping around with 2!!

It is quirky, and similar to scrabo in ni. I quite enjoyed it, and have played much worse. Could have done with a still day though. The wind was mental when I played it.
