Please help me i'm not even 40 yet but i'm starting to get concerned.

I have recently been thinking about ditching my hybrid for a 'gentleman's persuader' I really have never got on with hybrids but hit my irons well and my woods ok.

I have a Cleveland classic XL 3 wood and love it, I now see you can get a Cleveland classic XL 'gentleman's persuader' for under £60 and I just cant get it out of my mind.

What should I do accept old age gracefully or go for one last ho-rah....

Go for it - the hybrid that is
I've got one and it doesn't always go left like virtually every hybrid I've ever used.
Long too, I have the 23° and it beats my 24° 4 iron by a good 12 yards....

You have thought about it, ergo you are old, just accept that fact and buy one, I have an unused ball cup for the end of a putter, do you want it, also get yourself a pair of gators for the winter season

If your talking about the 7 wood, get it and see if you can get the 5 wood as well. I am seriously thinking about the 3 wood.

Yeah, as harpo72 says, pretty sure he is referring to a 7w.

Those Cleveland classic fairways sure do look nice, quite fancy one of them.

Hybrids are ok if you treat them like irons and hit the ball with a slight descending blow but when I first got mine I tried to use it like a wood with a sweeping action and it was a blooming nightmare! Once I changed my set up I have never looked back. Try having a look at the Tom Watson video ( DVD) lessons of a life time and you may change your mind.

Thats not turning old, your turning into a big girl (sorry ladies).. ditch the hybrid and learn to hit your irons ya big jesse

your still only a chap in golfing terms :D:D...

Am I the only one who wondered what a 'gentleman's persuader' was:o

Nope ... not the only one ...

Yes it is a 7 Wood.

I really wanted to get a 3 iron but Mizzy don't do a 825 pro 3 iron.

I was going to try a 712U or similar but at £150 a pop there a bit much and nowhere local has a demo one, at £60 for a 7 wood it seems a bargin.

The 3 wood in the is stunning only just short off my driver off the tee and much straighter and handy to fall onto when having a bad day off the tee, I have to say it is not that easy to hit off the deck but I really bought it as an option off the tee when it is tight or I need to lay up.

Coming up to 40 you should be in your golfing prime.
Forget things like 7 woods, electric trolleys, Farah slacks and 10th tee thermos flask for at least another 20 years.
Come come, the trick with golf isn't what you hit, its getting there with the least amount of strokes and if you need a lady's putter get it !!

My only worry here is he will find that the damn thing is LONG!!!! And he will have to buy some TM cavity blade go longer than last week's ones.

Mizuno mph4 can be had for about a ton. Lovely club, I have the 2i that I use on the tee of short par4s. Alternative to the 712u.

I recently posted a thread on this subject. For years I played a full iron set and wouldnt change and even played a 2 iron. Now at 48 ive ditched the 3 and 4 and put in a 23 deg 7 wood and frankly I wish I had done it years ago as my game has improved a lot. This is a hard enough game, if you can make it easier for yourself go fo it.

Ordered one this week. Going to the range this evening to try it out. After that I have a stableford comp tomorrow.

Still intrigued as to why there was a flyer for SAGA in the box. ;)

Now just need to resist ordering the trousers from the Sunday papers
