Quite an expensive summer price, but is it worth the £100 and how good is it, compared to Ganton and Moortown?
Looks like a real narrow course like a sea side links. Unusual to say the least.
A friend of mine plays a lot of corporate golf in the NE, Yorkshire etc. He played both Ganton and Alwoodley this year and rated them highly. The downside of Ganton was the attitude of the place, in particular inside the clubhouse. Visitors were second class and the clubhouse has a separate bar for members and visitors and woe betide anyone who crosses the line in the bar, and yes there is a line. For that alone I would not touch Ganton and whilst he liked the course a great deal the reception he received put a downer on his day. The week after Ganton he played Alwoodley and was full of praise. Great course, friendly reception, wonderful all round atmosphere. I haven't played either but from his comments I would play Alwoodley above anything else.

I prefer Moortown and Alwoodly over Ganton which I don't think Is that great. Not many standout holes and not a memorable course to play.
I played Ganton and the reception was fine. The secretary walked us out to the first tee and pointed out a few things before watching us tee off. Did feel a little that we were being watched but not really a problem as we were all Cat 1 golfers.
The course is superb with some of the finest bunkering you'll see anywhere. Good chance you will wear out your sand wedge but I'm sure the pro will do you a deal on a new one after your round
Not played Alwoodley yet but only heard good things about it, very high on my wishlist
