Hi,

Played today with a very good mate, he plays off 11. In the rush to get there he forgot his shoes, to far to go back and get them , so he bought some from the pro shop.

To cut a long story short, a round that should of cost him £25 , ended up costing him just over £100.

Did I take the pee, yes I did.

Cheers

Midnight...

Always leave a pair of golf shoes in the same location as your bag, even if its an old pair, this will always remind you that you need golf shoes or a 100 quid to play golf! :D

I always have a pair in the back of the car. They are normally the ones I wear down the range (getting old now) so I shouldn't have to worry. I might have a problem with current conditions as they aren't the most waterproof but a new pair of socks vs new shoes is an easy one

Midnight....On the same subject....went up way norh with a great bunch for a weekend and found my ex's pink handled putter in my bag (and of course not my ping)so had to buy a 2nd hand(cut down ping anser, thank god)for £25!
Great club, had it for a few years until I drifted away from our mistress!
Still cheaper than your mate though!
Did you beat him???

I would've played with the ex's putter & saved £25 for the weekend's libation!

I made that mistake at the club outing last year to Montrose. It hit me just as the bus was passing Forfar - got a nice pair of shoes but came at the added cost of a ribbing!!

I've done it myself. Running late to get out of the door. Got to the golf club, no shoes. Drove back home, got shoes went back to club to join them on the 5th. 45 minute turn around.

Not to bad in this sport, but in yacht racing, you forget your expensive Dubarry boots, and the boats already left the dock, that's it, there's no going back, you just have to suffer for the whole weekend with cold, wet feet, and no chance of getting off the boat in the case of an offshore race. Done that as well!!

It's a good point.

I used to have a recurring dream that I was expected on the tee at Augusta and couldn't find any smart trousers. :D

I don't mind forgetting my shoes, as long as I don't forget my debit card....

I did this once, at Silvermere....

I said to the pro....."a green fee, a sleeve of balls and your best pair of footjoys please"....to discover I didn't even have the green fee!!!
He let me off the 50p I was short (about £15 in those days), gave me some old tees from out the back, 6 balls out of his shag bag and sent me to the starter to "borrow" a pair of knackered size 10s.

now, that's what I call GOLD service.....good on em!!!

My mate did this last year, He bought a pair of footjjoys for £75 quid. He seen them the next day in town for £45.

And he lost his brolley that day too.

oh oh i remember a certain person leaving shoes lying in a carpark before a forum meet , guesses on a postcard
clue, the game was at blairgowrie

Always have shoes in car boot.
Did leave my trolley battery once, had cart bag, hired buggy.... Sorry folks but I wasn't going to carry that thing around for 4 hours

I always keep a pair of oldish Greenjoys in the boot just in case. They're looking very 2nd hand now but if they save me a few quid when I forget the "proper" ones then I'm happy.

I had to hire a pair of shoes at Kingsbarns. We met up at Westerwood, transferred the clubs and kit from 4 cars into two cars and headed off, guess who didnt transfer his golf shoes!!!!!!

Ranging, however it only cost me a tenner, better than £100.

My mate last year also managed to leave his golf shoes in the boot of his car when we went to Machrie, discovered on arrival his shoes were a 2 hour ferry sailing away at Kennacraig, luckily a kind hearted local gave him his shoes for the weekend.

How much milage did we get out of that!

Can relate to the poor souls misfortune. Happened to me in Portugal 2 yrs ago---took the shoes out of the car one evening, travelling 60 mins from base to course following morning, half way there realsied left the shoes behind. Course did not hire shoes so ended up buying a pair of Adidas for €100--still have the shoes, they are comfortable.

Here at home i always have an old pair in the car just in case i forget my own shoes--at a recent society outing i was able to lend them to a fellow member who forgot his shoes.
