99% of golf instructors whether it be online or your local pro would advise you to set up square to your ball, square stance, hips, shoulders, it's fairly normal, in fact it's almost standard, if not an unwritten LAW

Then there's a secondary thing that we're often taught, told, or just pick up from stuff that we read or hear which is that we are supposed to hit UP on our drives, the ball is forward in our stance and on a teepeg so that we can hit up on our drives a little bit.... and for arguments sake let's just say that we should hit 4 degrees up.....

Now spend just 14 minutes watching this vid and see if it changes your mind the next time your instructor tells you to stand square or you go to the range and put down your alignment stick across your toes for your driver... or you set up nice and square to the leading edge of the mat ready to 'sweep' your ball up in the air.....

You can watch the rest of the vid if you want to learn how to hit irons, if you want........

For the record I never use a square stance with driver (right foot always a couple inches back from square to help with my stupid swing path & lack of rotation) :)

Valuable stuff...

But it's relying on someone being able to determine, on course, a shift in swing plane or angle of attack of a couple of degrees here and there...

If I set up and swing as per the vid, but due to my AoA I don't hit up by 4 degrees I'm still screwed...

Knowing whats right and being able to do it are 2 very different matters...

And he needs to work on his presentation. Knawing my own leg off would be preferable to listening to him for more than 15 minutes...

Talk about sucking the fun out of golf;) It kind of made sense to me, but as I swing like an octopus playing the bagpipes it makes little difference to me.

I would like the 1m 36s of my life back that I just spent listening to a trigonometry lesson, delivered by the most boring man alive.

Managed to make it to 51 seconds before I shot myself! Do I win a prize? :mmm:

I couldnt even bare to click 'play'

Stuff like this is soooo uneccessary in golf (and before anyone harps up with "how do you know you havent watched it") the screen is enough to provide the gist

To hit a straight driver, if you hit up on the ball, then aim a bit to the right

This is true, assuming your swing path is straight down the target line, if like me no matter what you do, you'll slice it anyway.

Got as far a 11mins, then realised this is what my golf instructor has been trying to get me to do. Get the club on the inside with a closed face (proper release) and you'll hit a draw.

Easier said than done if it something you've not done before.

didnt have room in 20 words for caveats like that lol

I didn't say it was going to be as good as Star Wars! :p :D LOL

As to your other sentiment, I agree .... although if you set up to fail in the first place then invariably you will

Keep the funny comments coming guys... you're all far too good to worry about stuff like this drivel anyway!

It all made sense but as lmurg said "Knowing whats right and being able to do it are 2 very different matters..."

Interesting content though
