Hello everyone,

I am quite new to these forums, but am doing a golf project which covers the mental aspect of the game, and am desperately trying to get as much feedback as I can from golfers of every ability, with regard to the questions below. Please give as much detailed info as possible, even ask your friends to login and respond:

What is your last thought before you strike the golf ball?

How do you feel before an important putt?

When you have missed a 3 foot putt, do you automatically assume or believe, you will miss the next and the next?

How do you feel when teeing off in front of a large group of people, especially when the person before you has just hit one down the middle of the fairway?

What aspect of your game do you find the most difficult (not the physical aspect)?

What psychological methods have you tried to use to improve your golf game?

What is your attitude towards the mental aspect of the game?

If a product guaranteed to improve your game and reduce your handicap, would you consider, or actually just buy it?

If you feel that there are even more important questions that need to be addressed, then please let me know. Any other thoughts or comments on this subject would really be appreciated.

Thank you so much for your time and I look forward to all your comments.

Kindest Regards

What is your last thought before you strike the golf ball? the ball

How do you feel before an important putt? The same as a non important one

When you have missed a 3 foot putt, do you automatically assume or believe, you will miss the next and the next? PMA is what its all about

How do you feel when teeing off in front of a large group of people, especially when the person before you has just hit one down the middle of the fairway? clean pants please

What aspect of your game do you find the most difficult (not the physical aspect)? first tee nerves

What psychological methods have you tried to use to improve your golf game? at address and backswing just to think of the ball nothing else or think to myself how brightly coloured the tee is I am using, anything to get my mind off the swing in motion

What is your attitude towards the mental aspect of the game? Positive, you have to be otherwise the enjoyment leaves the game, I think its something not covered enough with Jr members.

* Pure.
* excited and nervous at same time.
* you've more chance of holing the next.
* great feeling of presure. love it.
* making myself hit putts harder.
* seeing the shot/ball going into hole.
* it must be practised like all other aspects of golf.
* no product can, only lessons and practising the right things.

Club golfers think to much and truely believe they are better than they are, the sooner they accept where there real ability level is then they can move towards improving with realistic goals.

What is your last thought before you strike the golf ball? hit the bl**dy thing

How do you feel before an important putt? they're all important

When you have missed a 3 foot putt, do you automatically assume or believe, you will miss the next and the next? of course not, if I believed that I wouldn't be playing

How do you feel when teeing off in front of a large group of people, especially when the person before you has just hit one down the middle of the fairway? it's simple, you know that if you've just been waved through that you will duff that drive; no surprise when it happens.

What aspect of your game do you find the most difficult (not the physical aspect)? financial or guilt (because I'm enjoying myself) - can't decide

What psychological methods have you tried to use to improve your golf game? oh dear, you don't want to sell me something do you?

What is your attitude towards the mental aspect of the game? casual (any rumours to the contrary should not be believed)

If a product guaranteed to improve your game and reduce your handicap, would you consider, or actually just buy it? only if it's free - because NOTHING can be guaranteed to improve everyones game, which is what you are actually saying.

I am sure you will find a similar question in the archives getagrip. Guys have come on here before and received short shrift. Good luck.

P.S.

Market researchers usually reimburse their participants, what are you offering the guys who have taken time to reply?

First chance to buy the product that's guaranteed to improve their game and reduce their handicap :p

1. Swing

2. slightly nervous, excited

3. Not at all. why would anyone do that??

4. I step onto the tee pick a spot where i want the ball to fly to then swing. i feel nothing in front of crowds i concentrate on what i want to do in my shot.

5. Most difficult is to cleanse my mind before my next shot but thats getting better as we speak also i need to play more sensible shots instead of (exaggerated) hittin a driver over bewl water to a tight back left pin with the sahara dessert behind it.

6. I read a book called 'Mastery' by Geoerge Leonard. It helps me understand that results don't come straight away you have to be patient and plod along. A bad round isnt the end of the world because good rounds will come around more often if i keep it up. Also it has taught me to enjoy practice more and how important it is to stay focussed and enjoy life in between time. It has increased my self esteem.

7. the mental aspect of the game is very important to me. Because i am so aware of it might be a problem in itself. to me the mental game is the difference between shooting 90's as opposed to 70's and even perhaps 60's.

8. If its guaranteed then its guaranteed. As a golfer who wants to get the best out of his game and improve to no end, then i would be foolish not to invest (If i had the funds) in such an item.

thankyou

Toonarmy you were a newbie once and yes I have posted a survey, but only because I need some help. What's the problem with that?

I was under the impression that forums were full of like minded people, who are there to help and support others.

Just had to say that, I'm afraid.

Madandra,

All I am trying to do here is to get some feedback from a group of golfers, who I thought would be happy to give there 2 penneth worth, without expecting something in return, some of which have very kindly done so and I thank them for that.

I am very surprised at the attitude of others, who seem to take offence to a 'newbie' posting a small survey, it's as if I have offended them in some way. If I have then I'm sorry, but there have probably been times in the past where you all may have needed someones help and advice, or maybe you new it all from day one - who knows.

Thanks again to those who have and those who will respond, the feedback is gratefully received.
