You've got 4 players and 4 caddies all around the hole doing the obligatory hand shakes, the ref even joins in! Size 10 feet scuffing about can be bad enough but then throw in a couple of fatties ... It's about time that they stepped aside or moved to the back of the green :angry:

Is this something that anyone's noticed or am I just having a moment :D

Cant be any worse than 20 stone of Patrick Reed prancing around with is dodgy Adidas spikes on

That's only 1 more (non-spiker) than what goes on about twice as much 6 days a week every other day of the year!

So while it should be encouraged to be done away from the hole, it's no big deal imo.

Really enjoying the Dunhill format. Been some really entertaining golf already this week, particularly from Bill Murray. Nice to see Rory hitting his straps today too, can see him making a charge over the weekend at St Andrews! Loving the Vapor gear in his bag too, those Irons are seriously sexy!

I think your just having a moment but I'm going to join you in that moment :) I suppose you could say that in the excitement of finishing and shaking hands it's the last thing on people's minds to watch the greens. It's a lot of traffic too around the hole and would get bobbly/unfair pretty quick. Maybe they could have the Marshall on the 10th/18th to remind them to move off the green before shaking hands. But it's something I've never thought of.
 
Is there not a historical natural handshake standing position? :whistle:

Obviously it's directly across from the last player holing out, but not in his/her line of sight, allowing said player to lift their ball and move away from the hole area (two metres is, I believe, an acceptable distance) before shaking hands; unless on the 18th where consideration should be shown to the members gallery viewing from the 19th and you should assume the HNHSP but move away from said gallery towards player holing out in a clockwise direction until said gallery has a decent view of the put.
 
59 watch for Rory. Playing absolutely unbelievably today. 8 birdies already from 12, and has yet another putt for birdie on the 13th. No-one has ever made golf look as easy as Rory McIlroy has in the last 5 months. If anyone is going to get a 59, it's Rory today. If you're not watching, turn it on now, he's playing what could be one of the greatest rounds of all-time, on the most famous course in the world.

No doubt that Rory is great but the round of the day for me was Robert-Jan Derken's 9 under at Carnoustie, 9 birdies and no dropped shots.
(I've never heard of him either!)

Oh yeah, Derksen's round was the best of the day by far, so impressive to go round Carnoustie in 63, even with preferred lies. Tommy Fleetwood out-performed Rory at St. Andrews too, a round of 10 under is super impressive. Wilson's still going strong at the top as well. If Rory doesn't win, I'd love to see Wilson take the title. Would be nice for Rory to win it though, considering he's playing with his Dad, on his Dad's Birthday tomorrow, be a pretty nice present for him, especially if they take the Pro-AM too.

I had the pleasure of meeting Ollie Wilson at last year's Britain's Best putter at the Belfry. You'd struggle to meet a nicer, more down to earth bloke. He gave time to everyone, and had a mountain of tips he was more than willing to pass on. Absolutely chuffed to bits to see him win, and return to the main tour.
