This isn't a comment on the rights or wrongs of Scottish independence, but this guy is the most deluded fool in British politics. First he wasted 50 grand of somebodies money (not his I guarantee you) taking the BBC to court to try and get a place on the last leaders debate. Now he claims the SNP have been dealt "a mighty hand" (6 seats, really?) and that Labour should seek a coalition with Plaid Cymru, the SNP and Liberals. Do the maths man, even the 4 of you combined wouldn't have minority.

I can never be sure if he's serious or just having a bit of a laugh at his donors expense, in ore ways than one.

I despise Alex Salmond. He is the most obnoxious sphincter licker I have ever coe across and he is the reason I would never vote for independence. If you cut the to55er open he would bleed gravy. He took £9k form a bunch of Asian businessmen to show them round our rediculous parliament which was against all party rules and he had to give it back.

Our country will be on its 4rse if the Tories get in but I am not sure if we would be better off with that tommy tanker either.

Boris was great on Have I Got News For You. He may be a dishevelled bumbling oaf but he's quite entertaining.

Salmond's "policies" are a joke as are the SNP and, for that matter, the Welsh nationalists.

Come on Mad/SS2, that sounds like very Labour dominated central belt opinion, it's not the opinion of Scotland as a whole. Alex Salmond has done quite well for Scotland, better than McConnell or McLeish imo.

If Salmond is so bad why did the nation vote SNP in at the Scottish parliament. It was a rejection of Labour re war in Iraq and other things. There are no labour MP's anywhere north of Dundee except one in Aberdeen I think and few south of the central belt too - why is that? Are all people in North Scotland and many in South Scotland wrong to not vote Labour?

As a personality he is good value and though admittedly quite slick as a politician I think he does ok and looks out for Scotlands interest quite well.

Oh aye, Happy birhday Andy! Hope the head feels better! :D

Some of the SNP policies are really short sighted. My biggest client is a recruitment company who used to supply workers to various local governemts etc. They used to run free services in the really run down areas of Glasgow and Edinburgh which have major issues with long term unemployment. Free training, free help and transport for interviews, and if an employer gave one of them a full time job there was no charge. They directly employ over 300 people in Scotland.

They lost a major contract last year and now can now no longer afford to run these workshops, why ? because they're an English company. Does the Scottish company who won the contract offer the same services ? Does it hell.

I dunno too much about Scottish politics, and for the most part I don't overly care about the detail.

The thing I'll say about the SNP is they will stand up for Scotland and always look for whats right for the Jocks, whithout giving a jot about British policies if they collide.

Down here we don't have a single politician that will put England in front of anything. ( Including the BNP before anyone mentions it - they're not for England they're for English Nazism and self furtherment ).

Because of them, I think Scottish independence will happen, and sooner rather than later now, in historical terms. Which I'm assuming most Scots think is a good thing.

I would like to know who Alex Salmond is representing? How many Scottish really want total independence from the U.K.and do they think if this happened it would be good for Scotland? Can Scotland truly go it alone, also how many Scot's would be prepared to leave England and their jobs, life etc and go back to Scotland to work and resettle as Scottish independent people if this ever happened or is this like the basque separatists just a pipe dream of the few disillusioned who hark back to a time long forgotten.

Scots who want independence.

How many Scottish really want total independence from the U.K.
until there is a referendum, we won't know.

and do they think if this happened it would be good for Scotland?
Why else would you vote for it?

Can Scotland truly go it alone
A developed country in northern europe? Why could Scotland not go it alone like hundreds of other countries around the world? Are the English really that arrogant, that they feel the poor Scots are incapable of looking after their own affairs?

,also how many Scot's would be prepared to leave England and their jobs, life etc and go back to Scotland to work and resettle as Scottish independent people if this ever happened
Is that in any way relevant to independence?

or is this like the basque separatists just a pipe dream of the few disillusioned who hark back to a time long forgotten.
Consistent voting for the SNP would suggest not

Stu, besides cheap prescriptions (£3 per item) and free car parking in hospitals what else have the SNP done?
Scrapped tuition fees, froze the council tax for 2 years now and scrapped bridge tolls to name a few.
