what are the view on consuming alcohol before and during an golf round in UK? I dont reallyknow what the view is in Sweden, but one can notice in the bins that some groups consuming alcohol during the round. Last year was it a party playing and having golf cart. some balls after them there was an womenily police playing and when they drove the cart down in the bunker. She phoned here collegeus and the police cqar drove in on the course and arrested for driving drunk,,not for drinking on the course....

Do you think its ok to drink during the round,, is that good etiquette and what about security for others on the course...

I have no problem if people want a beer during a round. The rubbish bins on my course suggest that plenty of people do. I never do, nor my playing partners tbh, I find the game hard enough as it is. I have a hip flask of whisky in my bag for really cold days but haven't needed it yet this year.

Had the mis-fortune of playing behind some oiks at a pay and play who were drunk before they started and drank more and more. Their golf was shocking but tanked up they had no concerns about letting the other groups through and were spoiling for a fight if anyone suggested it. In the end the club stopped them after nine and had to get the cops involved as they refused to leave

On golf weekends it's just about compulsory to have a hip flask or other sources of alcohol on the first day during the round. None of us gets drunk by any means, but lightly toasted. To be honest, in the UK golf will not really attract the types who just go to get drunk, but I don't see a problem with it if someone fancies a swift half on the course.

in the summer i have 1 half pint size bottle of magners in my cool pocket. when its red hot nothing beats pulling out that bad boy out on the 10th hole

On away weekends it's always a drink or two whilst playing

During the cold weather a nice little tipple in the coffee

But never seen many lager louts - even down at Ashbury

I don't drink so I might be in the minority here but drinking bottles/cans of beer on the course doesn't look good in my opinion. A swig of whisky from a hip flask on a cold day seems ok but drinking cans or Stella whilst playing a sport doesn't seem right to me.

It's the hardest sport I've played by far and doing it after a few beers just seems ridiculous. Maybe beer drinkers would be better suited to darts?

It has been said that Mr GB72 can't actually make contact with the ball unless he's got a raging hangover.….allegedly..

When I was at some holiday cottages in Cornwall they had a course connected. And to be honest most days I had a quick round with a bottle of Sauv Blanc in my bag, which was mostly empty by the end. But at least I wasn't drinking beer so that's OK.

Now that is posh!

One of my best rounds was shot while under the influence .

Level par off the whites at Western Gailes in a Club match. We were plied with treble G&t's before we went out.

Never drunk before or since during a game ,

Took part in a 32 man pub society event last year, each buggy was loaded up with a case of lager. The group demolished the lot and I didnt even finish 1 can. The only compliment I can give them is they didnt drop any cans on the course! Needless to say I haven't played with the group this year. Proper beer monsters

I made the cut in the County Champs a few years back whilst a little bit pished.

Got called off the course after 3 holes of the 1st day PM round due to flooded greens. It was hammering it down, so we had a few pints thinking we'd be off until the morning - had a couple more, still no let up - couple more, no chance of going out today!!??

Tournament Chariman taps the microphone to say that everyone needs to be back in position in 20 mins to resume!!!!

Shot level par in to make the cut by 2. The round took for ever as I hit a shot and then went for a pee - once you break the seal, you just can't stop!!! :)

My partner and I won away for our club against a 'banker' partnership. Was imperitive we won too. 2 litre bottle of Blackthorn in the carry bag for myself. Lightly toasted, played alright! Birdied the hardest hole.

A rather sweet liqueur on the fourth tee followed by a coffee at the tenth, with a tot of whisky in Winter, followed by a Rusty Nail on the sixteenth tee.

Holds no one up, as the measures are small they do their job well.

MAGIC!!

Just for the slow play brigade ..... no, we don't set a table at the 10th for our coffee nor do we linger over our wee swallows - so the following players are unaware of our little enjoyment. If we are held up and the following group catch us up, guess what, they will enjoy some hospitality as well.
