Just watched this on the History channel and it was fantastic, in essence there is a photo taken in 1975 from Brazil that's nigh on shows the two brother did actually escape from the island and survive.
Excellent programme which left me asking one Question.

Why have they not come forward by now. They would now be 84 and 85 yr old.

Wasnt he snatched by someone. .

just had a quick look on Wikipedia and he came back of his own accord. An extradition treaty was established in 1997 but when the uk courts asked for Biggs to be booted out the Brazilian courts said No.

Strange thing was that Biggs went to a cocktail party on board a Royal Navy ship whilst in Rio iN the seventies and could of been arrested then but was not.

They said no because he had a child with a Brazilian national
