Oh oh! Aimpoint divides opinion more than Stack and Tilt or Red Sauce/Brown Sauce!!

I'll let those with strong opinions for and against comment further...

Aim point is brilliant, it's revolutionised golf:thup:

Only yesterday I was down the local muni insisting the pro posts the stimp reading of every green, it's need to know information.

I've never happier than standing astride my line feeling the gradient then looking in my little book

......sorry Laka, try it for yourself.. It's not for everyone. Homer and the trilby tour hairdresser fella speak highly of it:D

That is what is normally called - a forum hand grenade

It must be usefull, the world number one........erm, sorry, number two uses it!

Mind you the world number one doesn't, so who knows.

Don't knock it till you try it.

I was trying this at North Hants, after getting the stimp reading off the pro before teeing off.
Unfortunately on the day I didn't make a putt,i got the speed and distance spot on,on every hole.
I couldn't understand how I coudnt read the break or read the slope of the greens.
It wasn't until I was changing my shoes in the changing rooms I realised I left my insole
for my sore Achilles heel in my left shoe making my left foot much higher than my right,
what a numpty:D

New to forum and liking the sarcasm already, my humour, and I'm trying to get my head round all this finger wagging malarkey, and how can it work? Anyone know? The Rod named Homer as a user and have seen he posts on here, but I've not seen trilby tour hairdresser post on here? Does he exist?

Welcome to the forum Rocstar. Good to kick off with a massive understatement ;)

I've never used Aimpoint and cannot work it out at all but I'd say I don't need it, so I'm not interested. I saw Homer use it at North Hants and I have to say that he got a great read on all of his putts. If he'd hit them hard enough, some of them might have gone in.

I think he was referring to 3565, an Aimpoint user/advocate who has participated in The Trilby Tour.

The 'finger waggling malarkey' - 1, 2 etc. is the last step of the 'Express' method and gives an 'aim point' for the putt whatever distance from the hole you may be.

Welcome aboard!

I do use it and it works well for me. I struggled with the pace all day at North Hants which was annoying as the reads on greens I'd never been on before were great. No good of course if you don't get the ball to the hole and it makes no difference if you putt like a numpty. Mind you I used it at Cuddington too and putted rather nicely.

Do you always refer to users with sarcastic names on this forum? Just wondered, as I don't rightly know the rules of the forum at mo'.....

Trilby Tour..... Now there's another talking point.....

But still don't understand this Aimpoint? Maybe Homer/3565 might explain if they're advocates, or by the previous comments Is Aimpoint a bone of contention within the forum!

The sarcastic names are optional:D I've not seen 3565 on here for a bit, maybe he's locked in his thinking box. Or had an accident with a pair of hair straighteners:o

Homer has illustrated the inherent flaw with aimpoint, which is the line is only half the story. You need to appreciate the pace and still hit the putt.

Who knows, maybe in a couple of years we'll all be doing it, then Vidal can say 'I told you so'

yeah not not sure how it works, even with what I've heard on TV, still makes no sense! Well let's hope that Vidal can explain?
