I'm 66 years old and beginning to be interested in shooting my own age.
I've had a few scores in the 60's but it depends on how easy the course is on the day and the type of course.
I'm wondering if there are any 'rules' which might govern shooting your own age.
Last week I shot a 57 on an 18 hole Par 3 course. It was not pitch and putt. Most holes were well over 100 yards and at times I needed a 5 iron.
So, does that count or would it have to be done on a full sized course with a minimum par score?

It's up to you. You set the rules for what makes you happy.

I shot my age on a full length course just last week! I missed out the last 6 holes 👍

It didn't make me too happy to shoot a 57 on a par 54.
If I shot a 66 on a par 66, it would make me a lot happier.
Bliss would be shooting a 66 on a par 70. I'm never going to do that because the lowest handicap I've had was 10.
But you could be right. There are no rules for what makes you happy.

I've nearly achieved my golfing ambition for this year by playing my age in golf courses. So far I've played 64 courses in England, Scotland and Wales.

That makes me 350 then so I should just about be able to shoot my age :o

Thought I was on track earlier this year. Shot 38 on the front 9 (par 70) but faded to 42 on back 9 to be a tantalising 2 shots shy.

I played a scratch match against a 69yo 6hc earlier this year who had beaten his age numerous times including 2 in the mid 60's on consecutive days.

I got beat :(

Did he beat the SSS?
Was his score gross or net?
What was his handicap?
Did he break par?

There are a lot of grey areas here. I'm never going to shoot a 66 on a difficult course. The best rounds I've ever had on a full sized course are 69's, but even they didn't break par.
I'm just wondering what parameters you suggest to satisfy yourself shooting your own age.

Gross, against a par of 71. No idea what SSS is.

Guy in our club has shot a level par 70 a few times this season he's mid to late 70s in terms of age.

I would say in recent years he's been under par as well.

Currently playing off 6 if I remember right

I don't think anyone would consider a nett score when talking about shooting your age.
