So, AG are offering double the value of your club as a sweetener to trade to an M1 driver. I rang them this morning to work out the numbers. I have a Titleist D2 915 which has seen about 6 rounds and is unmarked, they said the trade in would be approximately £65 X 2 = £130 against the M1 which is £399

I queried that the D2 is £250 currently on their shelf and it seemed a dramatic drop to £65 after just 6 rounds and the answer was "that's what they're worth once used"

Will I do the deal?

NO NO NO NO NEVER!

What did you expect.?

Not really sure why you're surprised by this, they are a business at the end of the day and M1s are still selling well at Retail price.

Similar to what Golfbidder etc do with their offers for trade in, they have to make money somewhere along the line! I thought you owned your own business?

Pretty sure AG won't be bothered if nobody takes them up on it but if someone was looking at an M1 and could get £100 off they may well take them up on it.

I never said I was suprised.

I'd be more suprised if I bought a Titleist D2 at £250 played 5 rounds to be told it was only worth £65 though!

That price seems off. It says on their website that they use the PGA Value guide to price their trade-ins.

http://valueguide.pga.com/

It's showing up here as $125 , so about £95. Double that, you should be getting £190 trade in value.

i wonder what golfbidder will offer you? The guys in my local AG usually match them. I bet they won't on this occasion!

Have you tried getting a price from Keele Driving Range?

If you really do want to do the trade in I would be using the website that they have stipulated they are doubling to get the correct price. They have shown this on their website and all marketing so they should be sticking to it.

What I do find ridiculous is that they have tried to blag this with you. Anyone who owns a Titleist driver knows it's worth more than 60 quid. I'd be embarrassed trying to say that to someone!

I assumed before I called that their would be some complication. Golfbidder valued it at £140 if I recall correctly, so AG halve the true value to them and then double it for their deal, no one is forced to accept these deals!

I assumed that I would get a better deal than they offered and that AG had done a deal with TM that was probably a precursor to a price drop, as they must soon to be releasing a new model!

While no one is forced to accept it they have stated that it is the PGA trade in value that is doubled, not whatever amount the assistant fancies making up at the time. Therefore you have a grounding to force them to up their price. As stated earlier, that's a couple of hundred quid, not £130.

Legally they've done nothing wrong and can't be forced to do any deal. Even if they offered £130 X 2 = £260 I'd still need to pay £139 to upgrade and I'm not sure the M1 is worth that much more

I REALLY HATE this type of tactic from retailers.....how stupid do they think most of are? Half price sales etc etc. Just increase the price before the sale for the minimum legal required time and then they get away with stating 50% of blah blah blah.

Just about all that comes out of the mouth of AG sales people is insulting to anyone with a minikin of intelligence. I walked in a few weeks back to buy something (spoke to one of them by phone that morning to check a price match and stock. They agreed to do). I asked for the product first and the sales person (not the one I spoke to earlier) started to tell me how good it was and the price was FANTASTIC and that I would never get it anywhere for a better price. I just smiled, opened an email on my phone, showed him the product £40 cheaper and informed him one of his colleagues agreed to price match to that earlier. He never spoke another word, other than bye as I left.

I think that there is either an assumption that all their customers are numpties or that we are so well off that we aren't going to check prices before doing a deal.

I looked at changing my car the other day, upgrading at the same garage I bought from, my car not quite 18 months old, the figures I first got were laughable/insulting, dragged them up to some sort of deal but I didn't switch then as I think a better deal is around the corner.

The sales girls attitude really irritated me, it was as tho' they were doing me the biggest favour and giving me the car at a loss to them, REALLY my heart bleeds!!
