I know a lot of people have low opinions of AG, last night we experienced really quality service from them.

I was looking for a pair of Addidas trousers. I found what I wanted on the AG web site and reserved them for collection at AG Thurrock, Essex. Popped over last night, trousers were there waiting for me, no fiddling about looking for them, there they were hung behind the counter waiting. Tried, fitted, sorted.

In addition my wife has been looking for a X-small Galvin Green top for ages. Wherever we have been it has always been "oh special order that, will have to take full payment and not sure we can refund blah blah blah..". AG had a small on the rack, the Manager stepped over and asked if he could help. "Do you have an X-Small, by any chance ?" "Let me go and check....." a minute or two later out he pops with the x-small. Fits my wife perfectly, but it's the wrong colour..... "No, problem. We can order the colour you want, it will be here in 7-10 days". "Refund, yes of course no problem". Small deposit paid and off we go, very happy.

So you mean that you ordered something for store pickup and it turned up, and the store was able to order something else they didn't have in stock?

Not sure I would call that breaking new frontiers in customer service. Isn't that what you would expect to happen at any decent store?

Cracked me up!

Yes, that it what he is saying. Not every place can do this though. Wicks for example.

Exactly.......when customer service is talked about a lot and never really reaches the most basic levels of service, it's nice to get exactly what you want without any issues. Especially, when we see posts about how utterly useless AG are perceived to be.

to be fair to OP. standard customer service in most stores is often so abysmal that what we used to take for granted is now exceptional.

No complaints about the bristol store. Except that their launch monitor is pants, wish they had a gc2.
Good guys in there though and good service whenever I've been in.

I don't think anyone here ever said that AG was unable to make a basic order or deal with a simple order and collect. I think that is a rather low standard to aspire to. I hope they also try not to poke customers with pointy objects or spit at them.

The criticisms with AG tend to revolve around their desire to push customers towards high commission/profit lines and to use dodgy fitting on amped up launch monitors as a tool to shift dusty stock items. One bad experience in that category negates 100 customers who had a simple order dealt with correctly.

AG are good for stock stuff - balls, clothing, tees etc but I personally found the fitting to be sub par compared to pros at GC, I wasn't given lie, shaft or grip options, whereas when I was fitted with my pro it was so much more in depth.

I've had a couple of online orders from AG recently. One bad and the last one was positive. Both examples werent directly to do with AG but with the delivery couriers (although AG set up the contracts with the courier companies).

The first was when I ordered a stand bag. It was delivered via MyHermes and it was an illustration of lazy customer service. To cut an unnecessarily long story short they couldnt be bothered to deliver it as the package wouldn't fit in the car. Rather than make it the first package in the car the day after they thought they would send it back to the depot and wait 4 days for a van.

This week however was much better. Having ordered a push trolley online AG sent it via DPD. This was a huge improvement. It was delivered within the hour window they promised. Their tracking page was quality as well. It displays a map that updates with the van's GPS location and destination.

Very simple I know by DPD, but for me it shows a good level of customer service without having to do that much.
