I have a Nike Covert driver from last year. It has a stock stiff shaft. Given my swing speed and inconsistency, I think i need a shaft that is somewhere between a stiff & a regular - potentially something with a low kick point. Also maybe cut it by an inch.

Any suggestions on where I can go and get it retro fitted within reasonable distance? I think the club head itself is good, so just looking to change the shaft.

Or should i go for a full drains up to look for a new driver rather than a retro fit?

Precision golf in Staines. Golf principles in Basingstoke. Off the top of my head.

Both quite 'expensive' places if it's just a 'last chance with this shaft' exercise. Any Pro should be able to do the cut and re-fit for the existing shaft - though it'll probably cost you for a grip as well (as, almost certainly, will the above places). There are some alternatives in the Croydon/Esher area too - depending on which part of Surrey you are in.

If you are inconsistent, then shortening the club is a distinct positive, while fiddling around with different shafts can be a bit pointless!

Contact James Crawshaw at Lindfield Golf Club. He us a proper club maker and does a top quality job. He fitted a Wishon shaft in my Covert and it's stunning. Custom fit the shaft and then fitted it immaculately. Highly recommended.

Not heard of a Wishon shaft? what kind of flex did you get, also does it come with different kick points?

Or just use Google find out which shafts will suit and look on eBay from them fitted with an adaptor to suit the nike already, job done!

Isnt that going against the grain of getting a custom fit??

Played Hampton court today, I held the club about an inch or so below the end, and I must say I was far more accurate!!!

Kinda. There's enough people on here with shaft knowledge to advise accordingly , and if your doing it with a budget it can be done a great deal cheaper this way.

I was in a similar position to yourself and without the need of an expensive custom fit charge and exotic shaft upgrade cost I sorted my flat stick for less than £60, with a shaft that is around £140 as an upgrade charge, this was complete with the amp grip and amp fct adaptor already fitted.

The covert was reported to have a very poor made for shaft by lots of people who tried it, so it isn't surprising your finding the stock shaft unsuitable.

Just done a quick search on eBay for " Nike covert driver shaft " and the amount of clubs for sale with choice of shafts is scary , I'd be sending a few "message to seller " ;)

It's got a "real deal" kurokage shaft.the kurokage black in the performance model is only 50g and quite whippy though. The kurokage silver in the tour model is a heavier and stouter shaft.

i have the kurokage stiff... it is pretty good for a stock stiff....

My golf swing needs a review. 30 years of cricket muscle memory means I dont really have a back swing.. I will get it up to about 9Oclock position and then generate all the power from there. Thinking of trying to hit a fast bowler thru the line... I can generate upwards of 95mph from there. I am trying to slow down the back swing which has helped increase the turn, but am still very whippy in the drive. However, I do get past the 250y mark in decent weather conditions and have gone past 300y when the ground is hard and running.

I am sure I can take lessons and do more exercise to change my style, but it will take me a while to get there. In the meanwhile, I think finding a shaft that suits my 'natural' game is a better approach.
