New club have as good as rejected my hcap certificate (after advice from someone at county level) because old club was not listed (affiliated?)locally or nationally. I know it was not part of county (Gloucestershire) set-up as we had no ladies section as such, but each year as part of my sub I paid an amount which was for LGU membership.
I have now looked on LGU site and the club is not listed as a member. Its 'sister club' is listed - and all admin is done from there. I can only assume my LGU sub got paid with theirs - or maybe not at all.
TBH I have left now and am playing off new hcap, so not bothered to query the whole hcap cert , but feel aggrieved I paid this LGU thing (if it was paid) for nothing.
sorry this is a bit boring but if any of you have expereince of admin of ladies' game (barb?) I'd be grateful for advice on how it ought to have worked. If LGU sub was paid for me and club is not a member - what did I get for it? - And does 'affiliation' refer to LGU, or is that something different?

Hi Sammebee
Yeh, LGU is overarching body , but the EWGA site doesn't seem to list member clubs - LGU does.
Not sure who I paid sub to as have now dumped last year's paperwork. rang the club admin people but think main admin person was out of office. will probably chase her at some point if only for the satisfaction of knowing what they are up to.

In Scotland the subs paid by ladies to SLGU is a lot higher than the men pay to SGU. Economies of scale I suppose.

The fee to the golf union is normally paid for by the Club and included in your annual subs.

english fee is also more for ladies - though not exactly a fortune - which makes it all more annoying!

Hi Ali
Sorry to hear about your hassles.

As far as I'm aware the fees you pay gives you access to a CONGU handicap as both the EGU & LGU contribute to the running or management of the handicap system and through this gives you access to events ran by the LGU, EWGA etc. It also helps contribute to training etc of up and coming stars and the promotion of golf in general.
All golfers who are members of an affiliated GC would have to pay union fees. So I would assume that not being affilated means not recognised by the golf unions.
This was my understanding of union fees, my apologises if I am wrong.

I hope you get things sorted.

thanks barb - and for your post on the other thread. What you say is how I understand it, and suspect the club is taking my money without giving me the related 'benefits' - probably from oversight rather than delib fiddle - they won't have made a fortune out of me and one other lady member - and both of us have now left. Still, I'll mention it to them and see what they say.
