Aerotech Shafts?

Brilliant shafts; graphite core with 59 miles of steel fiber wrapped around them gives them the accuracy and consistency of steel with the forgiveness and vibration dampening of graphite. Matt Kuchar uses them and Jack Nicklaus moved to them after he retired after a lifetime playing the same Dynamic Gold shaft.

Not cheap though!

the forgiveness and vibration dampening of graphite.

Some things have changed in 10 years then!

I know someone (a Pro) who uses the SteelFibres and likes them. Had a couple of hits and while too stiff for me, didn't feel harsh like some.

'Not cheap' is an understatement!

Kuchar and Snedeker play them. Seems to work out OK for them. The heavier versions play pretty stiff, so if you fancy them, get professionally fitted.

Sorry to revive an old thread but it's exactly what I was going to ask.

I'm looking at a second hand club (that I can't try first) with an i110cw stiff steelfiber shaft in. Would you say that would play stiffer than PX6.0, or just different?

Kuch & Sneds both use steelfiber i95's (S)- but no idea if they have them hard stepped - but either ways give some indication of the 'stiffness, frequency, bend profiles' of the aerotech family.
if looking specifically at the weight of the 110's maybes a good idea to try to search out some 'regs' to try. though maybes useful trying out the i95's first off.

WOW and I asked about fitting in a previous thread and people said that the shaft may not make that much difference !!

I love the forum!

Hit em straight....ish

You will always get a range of answers. People may not be answering the same question, though. Some people answer the question "Do shafts make a difference?" as if it was " Can you tell the difference between stiff and regular?" or "Can Tour pros play with any flex?". The two are not the same.

Most people would agree that there are shafts which are unsuitable for any given golfer, especially a handicapper, because they are either too heavy and stiff, or they are too light and uncontrollable. In between, the range of what is suitable varies.

The Aerotech shafts generally play fairly stiff to flex, meaning that they play stiffer than the average steel or graphite shaft, which is not surprising for a shaft liked by Tour pros. They supposedly give the best of graphite lightness and steel consistency. I have not played them, but they are available as an (upcharge) custom order on a number of brands these days, so you might find them on a Titleist fitting cart somewhere.

Ethan,

Thanks for that I understand as I felt the difference between as couple of shafts as a fitting and there was a difference in the trackman results as well as the range I was hitting on so take on board.

Do not think I will bother with this option just yet being off the h/cap I am but it is fantastic to know (not necessarily understand) what is out their!

Your opinion is not relevant to your handicap. Your a human being with thoughts and feelings on a forum... don't be concerned about sharing otherwise we will get to the point where only a few people will post the same thing and its then not a forum.

Just as an update my mate who was looking at these shafts decided these where just too expensive and didn't offer anything better that cheaper options

Just as a matter of interest what Hcap was your mate off and was he looking at new clubs or re shafting his existing ones (sorry if I have missed it in a previous thread.

I've never heard of them, anyone else used them or know anything?

Seriously good! Seriously expensive! Hybrid of Graphite and Steel (supposedly) combining the best of both!

Had some hits with some and they did feel good. But, at that price, not for me!
