Hello,

please go easy on me I am new.

i played golf (poorly) many years ago and have decided i want to get back into it. Now I know I haven't got a clue and was wondering if I would be best off getting 2nd hand stuff or getting cheap new stuff. Not that I really want to give my hard earned cash to Mike Ashley and his awful sports emporium but there is a full package of Dunlop TP12 on there for £90.

Are these worth bothering with at all? It seems like value for money or I would i be better off getting a second hand set from somewhere. I don't want to spend a fortune just get some decent ish gear to help me out a bit.
If second hand is best what type of clubs / gear should I be looking out for and where from?? Has anyone got anything they are looking to get rid of that would be suitable before I look through eBay etc.

i would have put this as a Wanted on the other section but I haven't been a member long enough.

thanks for any help or suggestions.

welcome to the forum:thup:

Is there a club near you or a few?
If so go and see (or call them) the pro and tell him you've just started and looking for second hand clubs that suit you, pretty sure most pro's will be delighted to help- def go down the 2nd hand route as you'll get better quality clubs for the same price as a new 'cheap' set

Would second what DV said. Find a good local pro and tell them your situation. Maybe look at a lesson as well to instill some fundamentals...

If you are really serious I would talk to a pro, book a series of lessons (they should be able to find a suitable club to teach with).

When you have got a taste for it and you can do it then try and pick up a second hand set from them. The more custom you give them the better value overall they will give you (been my experience anyway), sometimes its a free glove, ball maker or more.

Be loyal and to be treated royal.

Thanks for the advice. I have a couple of local clubs where I think I will pay a visit and have a chat with them. Thanks for taking the time to reply.
