Advice on fairways please

try a cleveland launcher, they are good off the fairway and have a large enough face for the tee, good club in my opinion.

I see that Ben Sayers have now introduced a "Benny" 3 wood to go with their driver.
A lot of people swear by the Benny driver, it has been awarded a lot of marks in golf magazine tests, sometimes performing a lot better than more expensive makes.
I'd personally have a look at one of those. The drivers were available for under £100.00 new so I would imagine the 3 wood will only be about £70.00 or so.

Anyone know of a decent fairway thats good off the tee and deck? Something of a mid-high hcp'er if poss.

Ta.

Not enough info. Slicer or hooker, low or high ball hitter, how far do you carry driver, current driver shaft?

Worst shot is a slice, usual is either a fade or draw, medium height flight, I carry about 240-250 with my driver and its a standard Yonex Nanospeed I shaft reg.

I am hitting about 270 at the moment with a good one now the ground is softer (measured on SC for those who have doubts), but struggle to carry a bunker on our 7th which is about 215. At my c'f the carry was about 210 on the LM, so am guessing it isn't far out. 230 carry should roll out at more than 260, unless you get massive height too.

I sense this descending into another I can ghit it further than you debate! I'm guessing the real answr lies in trying out a few clubs. Maybe look around and see if anywhere still has G10 woods as their profile isn't too different to the G15 and so you might get a good deal. I think Cally are doing some deals ont he Diablo fairways too

That wasn't the point I was trying to make. If Parmo is looking at carrying 230 with a driver, average, then if he only wants to hit 210 off the deck, he won't need a 3w, more like a 5w or hybrid.

I think the 3 wood is a tricky one to get right. One which is easy to flight off the deck may go too high off the tee.

If you have got on well with the Yonex, that might be a good place to start. Otherwise, Ping G10 or G15 are both reasonably slicer friendly. The G10 might be available at a good price now. Callaway, any recent model in a draw bias might also be good. The Nike Dymo is a nice club with a decent shaft too.

i'll second the cleveland launcher... best and easiest 3 wood i've hit, including G10 and callaway hyper x. I'm using an old wilson staff df6 3 wood at the moment, which is ok, if a bit too soft and will replace it with the launcher once i can find a good enough deal.

I hit it in various shaft permutations at a demo day off grass and tee and the shaft defo made a difference. I need the gold one, and i'd defo recommend you see if you can try a couple first.

My Burner 5 wood goes about 200 - 210 off the deck a little further off the tee, very very consistant and not too high off the tee.

Really connected sweetly on a par 4 with a bit of a downhill slope at South Leeds the other week, I reckon it rolled out to over 250 yards, which given the yardage left to the flag would be about right and also measured it later on Google Earth as a double check, felt pretty chuffed with myself for about 30 seconds until Beggsy's 5 iron (or at least the ball he hit with his 5 iron) went a good 20 yards past!!

Parmo, how do you find the Nanospeed driver? Online golf are doing these for £49 at the moment. Might get one as a backup.
