Advice on Currency Cards

I used one from Thomas cook last year un Europe worked at treat.

Be wary in the US to check the use of mastercard I can't recall which way around it is but last time I went mastercard or visa weren't as widely accepted universally as they are over here.

A mate of mine recommended a moneycorp card - I have one but not used yet, I did get a good exchange rate back in the winter when going sking whilst sorting it out

Hope this helps

I now use a 'zero' credit card which has no transaction fees, when I used a currency card I used the CaxtonFX card which allows more than one card on the account, zero charge for ATM withdrawal and has an app to track transaction, easy to load too.

The new york pass is fine

I have used FairFX several times without any issues. One piece of advice for the US is that in some restaurants they take your card to swipe before then giving you the opportunity of leaving a tip when you sign the receipt. If you want to tip with the same card, then they will take your card to swipe again to make a new bill. The first swiped amount will be cancelled and only the second goes through. The issue with these cards is that the first swipe charges the card and takes several days to be refunded, usually after the holiday ends. It's therefore best to either tip with cash, or tell them the tip amount when they first take your card to swipe and the till.
