I play a fairly wet and sometimes muddy course and this problem is starting to annoy me

Even when the grass is wet, if i do not wear my waterproof over trousers the bottoms of my trousers get splattered with mud / water off the fairway from taking divots etc so more and more even if it isnt raining but the early morning dew is still on grass i have to wear my waterproof over trousers

My question is do others suffer from this ?

Maybe my low cost waterproof over trousers are not the best but they work

Cant see that waterproof trousers ( not over trouses ) would help as they would get very muddy at the bottoms and not very pleasant to wear after the game

Any ideas from fellow wet course golfers ?

Its like i need lower leg trouser protectors that can be removed after the game !

I just wear my ski pants. Get changed when I get to the club and after my round. Chuck them in the wash every now and again no worries as they dry very quick. Don't think there is alot you can do to be honest.

I've got a pair of Puma golf trousers from about 4/5 years ago that have a waterproof section at the calf from the knee down.

Don't know if they still make them or not and I only use them in spring/summer.

For winter I wear Under Armour winter trousers that have a DWR finish and keep me warm and dry

If I know it'll be wet all day I'll just put an old pair of trousers on as no-one will see them under my FJ or Proquip waterproofs. I'll normally roll the bottoms up a few time so there is no danger of them being longer that the waterproof trousers. No-one ever sees the creases in the 19th.

To be honest most of the time I just take a spare pair with me to change into after and so if the roll ups drop and the trousers do get soaked at the bottom I can just change. I think its virtually impossible wothout plus 4's or gaitors to keep the bottoms totally dry especially once you venture off the fairways

that was my problem today Homer, trouser bottoms were soaks and it looked like I had wet myself in the crotch area.... fabsil may have to be purchased or buy some better waterproofs.

Please don't resort to tucking your strides into your socks though...

Nothing to do with snobbery or petty club rules... It just looks so totally naff...

Wish I had the front to wear plus fours as thats the #1 solution to this 'problem'...

If the crotch area is wet and it isn't anything to do with senility or your bladder then I think you definitely need to think about new waterproofs.

Sorry i forgot to add i do not want to look a total *** !

Plus 4 no no no

Your clearly not a man of class. Plus 4's rock, so smart and practical I think it should be law that we were them from October through to April.

I can see they were practical, shame golfers stopped wearing them, but defo a fashion from the last century, cannot remember seeing any Pros wearing them recently ?

What we need is half and half, normal trousers for golf with the lower part of the legs with a waterproof section that you can wipe dry / clean at the end of the game sorted, maybe i should send my idea to Proquip

You would think it was radiation that was splashing your trousers. Its only a bit of water and mud.

Wear them and give them a wash or you could wear some wellies.

Not very practical as dirty trousers are not something i would wear in the bar afterwards and i havnt time to change to clean trousers and then go in with my scorecard etc.

Seems like waterproof overtrousers are the only sensible way, just ordered a new pair of Sunderland trousers off ebay
