Adidas v Footjoy

So i'm in the hunt for a new pair of lightweight shoes, mainly for the summer!

I've narrowed it down to the Footjoy hydrolite, and the Adizero TR. Both are similar prices, both are comfy, and both are light.

My confusion lays in which way to go. I have read a fair bit about how FJ quality is falling, but to the man on the street, they are still king.

I haven't seen much feedback on adidas, beyond the historic adizero one being banned issue, which I don't think applies to this.

Any thoughts?

(or other shoes that look similar/similar price/lightweight!)
 
can only comment on adidas, i have the original adizero tour and the new adizero one. both are great and i have not had a single issue. there are stories of the spikes failing, but dont know whether i have just been lucky, but no problems here. Also seen the adizero one on sale for circa £90 recently.
 
Adidas every day of the week for me - streets ahead in terms of fit and comfort
 
The only issue with FJ shoes I have had is the sole on my XPS-1s splitting but I think this is a design issue rather than a quality one. I've never had a waterproofing or quality issue apart from that with any pair of FJs I own. FJs all day long for me but I doubt you will go far wrong with either.
 
FJ all day for me.

Every one I know who has had Adidas has had to do a warranty return as the inner heels simply wear excessively in that area to the point they split/tear and wear through.

I think the object is to get the correct fit to avoid this. I was a long time FJ user and always swore by their quality - sadly I can't say the same for their newer lightweight offerings. I purchased a pair of Adicross shoes this year and have been very pleased with them - and zero wear inside. Nice to see half sizes and wider fits available too, so getting the right size should be a doddle.
As a general rule of thumb, Adidas always seem to have "out of the box" comfort with little wearing in time required. Quality FJ shoes still have a place in my heart though and once broken in, you will not find a better pair of golf shoes. But you need to pay a premium for the good ones.
 
Have had about 12 pairs of Adidas shoes and never had to send any back through warranty , never had a cleat falling out problem nor the heal wearing problem on any of my pairs.

Can't agree with that. My Puma cell fusion's are nowhere near as comfortable as any of the FJs I've had. FJ's are comfy for me the moment I put them on, the Puma's still feel like they are wearing in after 6 rounds. I guess certain feet are more suited to certain shoes
 
Not had a problem with any Adidas gear at all. I've got a pair of them and a pair of Footjoy, Footjoy are comfier imo but absolutely nothing wrong with the Adidas. I've had them nigh on 2 years and they are still in excellent condition, a good clean and plenty of wax on them after every use is the key.
