Been really busy at work, and not had chance to get my new irons yet, so when I passed Doncaster the other day I decided to pop in to Direct Golf to get my prefered choice of Di7s.

However, just to complicate things, the manager (a PGA Pro) asked if I'd considered Adams A3 Boxer Utility set. They were about an extra £100, but he reckoned they would suit me better after seeing me hit both sets in the indoor range.

Just wondering if anyone has any experience of Adams equipment, good or bad, to help me in this flaming minefield!!

How difficult can buying a new set of irons be!!!!

Adams are on the up, instead of having past it pros like Tom Watson and Nick Faldo on their staff I see they've just bagged Rory Sabbatini to play their clubs. If they can get one or two other good players on their tour staff then their gear prices will no doubt sky-rocket on the back of the publicity. I'd get in there and buy Adams gear now, it's good stuff.

Dont know that much about Adams gear but I have a set of Di7 irons and love them, a few other forum members also have a set. You can get them for £250 online and for that price you can not go wrong.

What did you prefer? Go back and try them out again. Could also give the Mizuno MX-19 a go?

you have plenty of time now that the crap weather is here, visit somewhere you can try the clubs out a few times then pick what you are most comfortable with and what feels good to you, might not be the two you have mentioned

Timbo,
To my mind Adams were the first to get into low profile (utility) woods back in the days of the tight lies clubs.
What they don't know about these clubs is probably not worth knowing....
I'd imagine a set of idea3's with 3 utility and the rest cavity-backed irons would be top notch and a purchase you wouldn't regret.
I play with old fashioned cavity irons 3-PW but have changed the 3I for 3H. I can hit long irons (even have a 1 and 2) off a tee but off the deck, they are nowhere as good as utility woods.
If I was buying now, I'd certainly go for a mixed set of hybrids and irons. Not sure if I'd want to go to the 4/5 iron though. If they are good, I can't see having 3 utilitys is going to be too much of a compromise, until you get down to low figures.

Adams golf is a good up and coming brand in my eyes.

Their exposure isn't huge because like other companies such as MD Golf and Snake Eyes, they don't spend huge amounts of cash on having 100 players on tour playing their equipment.

If they worked better for you mate I would buy them, I know that I am renowned for my undying devotion to Cobra but if something else comes along that improves my game I would change without any consideration to brand loyalty. In fact I recently changed my wedge to a mizuno raw haze model.

A lot of people are foolishly loyal to a single brand because they think it makes them look good if they have the "right name" in their bag. I can understand it if they wre a pro getting paid big bucks to use or promote it. "I just luuuuurrrrve the K1 Speed" says Sam Torraance, "bollocks" I say in reply! If you weren't being paid you wouldn't even use it as a door prop.
