Picked up a couple of these to try yesterday. Very impressed. It's a 3 piece and very similar in my opinion to the Z star but that but cheaper. Felt very good off the tee and lots of control around the greens. Used it at Epsom and it's impossible to hit and hold their greens (plenty of bump and runs in) and so hard to know just how receptive it will be but I'll try it at Ascot this week.

First impressions though is this is a great ball at a decent price (approx £30 per dozen). I really wouldn't have told the difference between this and Z star. Didn't scuff up as badly as a Z star either

How much is th Z star these days? I have often seen deals on it for well under 30 quid

Why wuld you pay £30 for those when i don't think ive ever see stars or more than £25?

the AD333 tour is £28 from AG and Z stars are £35.

If you can find Z stars for £25 your doing very well! (The only way I can find them for £25 is buying two dozen)

Sorry, but the AD333 tour just seems like a way to fleece money from the curent 333s loyal following

Wouldn't mind trying these.

However, when you can always pick up "premium" balls for £20/£25 I don't see how they will sell them?

Bridgestone, Srixon, Callaway, TM always have offers on their top balls. They may be last years model but we're all crap at this game in the grand scheme if things so makes no difference!

Used to play Z-Stars, but it got a bit expensive when I was mashing them into the cabbage on a pretty frequent basis, so changed to the old AD333 which I quite liked. Tried Bridgestone E6 balls, but there was just something about them I didn't like. More recently I've lost a dozen NXT tours which I got for Christmas, they were okay, some Wilson FG tours I have can stay in the practice bag, qite a decent ball, but they seem to discolour very quickly. Even after playing just one hole, the Wilson FG had gone from being pristine white to a cream colour when compared against an unplayed FG ball.

So now I'm using Mizuno D201's, they feel tacky to the touch and that they should be soft, but instead they are quite firm off the face and hold up pretty good on the green, though not as good as Z-Stars.

If anyone can find Z-Stars for £25 post up as I'll have some.

Without getting into the argument of who can get what, where for how much, my point was this is a 3 piece ball that in my opinion rivals any of the equivalent out there and in my opinion is significantly better than the premium offering from TM and Cally in particular and plays very similar to my own preferred ball at the moment the Bridgestone 330RXS. All I was saying is that I tried it and thought it was excellent. In response to the post about fleecing existing AD333 users, this is daft as the original model is two piece compared to this 3 piece model and the playing characteristics are totally different. It is similar (not in terms of construction!) to playing and NXT and a Pro V

Not just 2 piece vs 3 piece, also surlyn cover vs urethane cover.
Totally different ball to the normal ad333.

I think it is a good idea, they may have shot themselves in the foot by giving it the same name as a cheaper ball though because of the association.

Sorry Homer, didn't realise we were just meant to post in agreement with you and move on!!

Nobody's having a go at you, why so defensive?

I just mentioned that, if I'm looking to buy balls, which I am, and I can get ones I know and "premium" balls for cheaper what would make me buy these?

I agree there, I am a bit confused where this ball sits as as you say it's got the AD333 name so you think more at the cheaper end, but then they stick the word tour on it so you think premium ball end. But then again they have the Z stars.

I never pay RRP for balls and always buy them in a sale, but it sounds like one to try. If I can get hold of them for a decent price.

It is supposed to sit just behind the ZStar as a "low end" premium ball.

Believe the original idea was to produce a softer AD333 for summer use.

They are trying to make money off the back of the succesfull AD333 by creating a new version at twice the price in hope the current users will switch to it.. Why wouldnt you just buy the Z star?

Because it's not the same ball as a ZStar and is a bit cheaper.

Because it isn't the same as the original AD333 but still a cheaper RRP than a Z star. Some of those Z star offers relate to the older incarnation (getting rid of surplus stock). At the end of the day, I was pleasantly surprised and went out thinking it was going to be firm (thin most Cally incarnations including some of their top end offerings) but it wasn't. Definitely worth looking at again after I hit it at Ascot this week and see if they do stop on the greens.

Isn't the AD333 Tour supposed to be the rival or Srixon equivalent to the Titleist NXT balls? The Tour and the NXT have pretty much the same price point.
