Was meant to play my first medal tonight (not including the one i played for handicap), and got caught in traffic and missed my tee off time with the boys i was getting paired up with. Anyway decided to go out myself and play 9 holes off the whites and see how I was going. First tee and I cream it 70 yards infront of the green, start of the story for the remainder of the 9 holes, have never hit my driver so well on the course. Pin straight and consistently around 270 yards to stop, I usually carry around 220. Took me 3 or 4 holes to get my feel of my wedges but started coming onto a game and felt like if I carried on playing id have had my best round yet this year. Went round the 9 holes in 45 (par 36) and reckon i could have shot 40 for the other nine as I generally play them better. Would have lined me up for a lovely cut to my new handicap aswell :/ May need to beg HID to play saturday and sunday this weekend so I can play the Saturday medal aswell. hahaha, such is life.

Who wears the trousers. Man up and tell HID how its going to be and you ARE playing in the comp. Good shooting but don't forget this was without the pressure of being in the comp so don't go out at the weekend with too many expectations

HHaha with a 5 week old im lucky to get out at all :). Nah cant say nerves will affect me mate, im not bothered about competing, I just want to get my HC down :)

Had something similar myself on sunday. Playing in my first comp at new club since getting my handicap, my playing partner failed to turn up. By this point I'd already put my sweeps & 2's money in the box, but I played a round anyway and what did I get on the par 3 18th?

Yep, only my first ever 2!

I ended up missing out on a nice crisp £20.

My handicap matches my usual cards, I usually shoot 95 on a decent day more would include bad holes but adjusted scores usually give me 95ish. Everything just seemed to click tonight. Hopefully with more golf my handicap should soon plummet, only been playing regularly since june.
