Went out for a friendly round with my normal playing partner today as it was a nice day and thought we'd make the most of the time off work.
We both tee'd off and hit the fairway on the par 4 first and we were discussing the next shot, bout 160 yards to the green with a huge tree just infront of the green, my partner (hc 9) normally goes straight for the green, so i thought i'd follow suit... he hit the green, i hit the pond - finished on dbl bogey...
I took that "go for it" mentality to the rest of my game and finished on 91 gross (67 net) and the best thing was I came off the course knowing i can do better.
On a number of occasions I managed to get myself out of trouble - par 5 5th, skied my drive to fringe of the green on 14, setup for my second shot with a 4 ball watching and absolutly crushed a 5 wood to about 15 yards short of the green.
I think the heat started to get to me on 16, i'd been leaving a number of putts a couple of mm short and on my 6th shot, hadn't had a 7 all day - hit my 3rd putt and it landed a few mm short, i turned around in disgust and a second later i heard it hit the cup.
Received my V Easy from Bob today, so will be playing with that before Wednedays Rollup Comp where hopefully I can play better than todays 91!
Things to work on:-
Putting - mainly distance control
Bunkers
Brag over
