Ach Golf - What a Bleeding Stupid Game

And so of a lovely June day I went out for a few holes early this evening - to try and get some idea into my head about my iron play as it been pure rubbish. Just me, myself and I. Course pretty darned empty. Irons off all tees.

Par 5 1st slightly downbreeze I sclaffed a 3i about 60yds off tee - then 5i and 7i to 4ft and holed putt for a birdie - nice. To the 6th hole. 175yds against the breeze, try a 4i - nice strike - looks good in air, landed on fringe couple of bounces and...did that go in?. It did! My 1st Hole-in-One after 45yrs of playing the game - on my tod with not a soul in sight. Typical. Fortunately I had my phone with me so started to video as I approached the green and up to the green - and there it was - nestling quietly bottom of the cup.

But with no witnesses at all - does it really count? Of course it does for me - even though just witnessed by me and my God.

So tonight dear brethren and sisters of the golf I can when asked say - yes - I've had a hole in one.

The video just has me wandering up to the green muttering to myself; wondering where my ball is - checking front bunker etc. then peering into the hole Don't know how to upload onto youtube or I would.

..thank you sir! Possibly my favourite hole on the course - and maybe it's signature hole.

You do realise you have to have the ball mounted and keep it in pride of place. Perhaps swop for a better one.

Lovely hole, though not as tight as it used to be when I joined in the 70's. I had a nearest the pin there in the Pro Am. I won four tickets for Aspects of Love in London when it had just opened with the original cast. A decent valued prize in those days.

I think my favourite hole is the 9th.

My only rule for a solo hole in hole in one is that you get it with your first ball. take a couple of goes and I wouldn't count it.

Aha! Fortunately it was my first ball. My second was pulled a bit and better hit and so I knew it would be longer that my first - so when I couldn't see my ball on the green I got wondering - so pulled out my phone (tut tut me )

Just nice...

Congrats well done... I go out a fair bit myself for practice so I always think this is destined for me too... It's one of those if a tree falls in the woods but nobody around to hear does it really make a sound question..... Of course it does what a stupid question... Enjoy it!!!! I'll need to remember that video idea as I know this will happen to me one day 😃

Did you mention it to the club and cost yourself a pretty penny in drink?
