i've been impressed with how woods has played today(so far) and obviously mcilroy, donald and others even though we haven't seen much of the others lol!!!

even though mcilroy is 2 ahead of woods i have to say woods has played the better, more consistent golf.from the tee he has been excellent.for him usually being so wild from the day it's been like night and day.he's hit most fairways and he's been bombing the driver aswell with such a powerful but controlled swing.

he's missed quite a few chances on the green and failed to get up and down from just off the green on the par 5 18th for birdie.

i'm looking forward to the rest of this tournament:D

I agree, haven't seen anything wrong with his game, his putter has been quite cold though. Probably the difference of having never played the course before.

Got the coverage running on my iPhone at work (office wi-fi

), just watched Rory birdie to tie the lead at -5. Just before that, Monty was teeing off and commentator says something like "Monty doesn't like this pin position on the left, we know how Monty likes to slide it out to the left..............oh........." as the ball rolls to stop about 8 foot from the pin......

rors is doing well now,a bit lucky but thats the name of the game.pitched in to go -5 now i think.he was lucky at the par 5 18th his 9th.his 2nd shot was miles left but because of the hospitality stand he got a free drop to the nearest drop zone and got up and down for birdie......i think we need a few of them at our course ;)

i hate jumping the gun but if tiger can keep this kind of play then i can see him doing really well this year.if he can maintain consistency from the tee then he can hopefully keep create chances for birdies and surely they will start to drop.

Quality golf from both Tiger and Rory.

Tiger only needed a warmer putter to top the leaderboard, lost count of how many slid by.

...Rory will beat him by 12 shots ;)

Solid enough round by Tiger but only 2 birdies Versus Rory's 7...
He needs to make a lot more puts and that doesn't get easier as you get older.

It's a recurring theme Tigers flat stick being cold.

I can see him having his game in way better shape but struggling with the putter and everyone knows you do not win much with a cold wand.:mmm:

I prefer Stenson starting with an 8 and +9 through 6!

He should just chuck it. Keeping a young gun out of the field in his fruitless search for his game. Come and sit on the sofa with us Henrik, grab a coffee and danish.

Looking forward to watching it tonight but 10/14 fairways and 17 GIR is pretty impressive for a guy who's apparently past it. Great stuff from Rory as well putting that score together on a bad driving day. Luke was Luke, very rare he makes a splash on Day 1 but he'll be there at the end

Agreed, Master Luke says he plays each hole like a 72 hole tournament, he doesnt sweat dropping 1 shot or missing a birdie as there are plenty of holes left.

I was up for 4am watching it as the dug needed a pee:eek:

Ditto to all of the above. Don't fancy going to bed too late, so I somehow have to try and squeeze in an entire day's golf in probably two hours! Should be fun.
