WE were on our second bottle of wine last night about 11.30 watching a dvd when the Mrs asked whether I had looked at the calendar which I hadn't.

She then proceeded to tell me that she had booked her first golf lesson with the local pro for Saturday.

It has taken me until now to come to terms with the news which of course I haven't.

What can I do other than call The Samaratitans?

Slip the pro a twenty and get him to tell the misses she would never make a golfer if she took lessons for the rest of her life,and shes wasting her money.Or the second option,tell her how great it is thats shes learning golf and it would be a pleasure to take her to the course,and you personally will teach her.

My wife knocks the ball around, she's not great but she loves it. It's just hard getting time outside comps to play with her, she can as a social member mark a comp card if needed.

Good luck to your wife, we also play abroad together.

You are looking at it the wrong way.

She will meet new friends, who she will play with in the ladies section. She'll have fun, appreciate there is golf time, and our time. Which free's up you to play.

And then, best bit, there are golf holidays together. Every holiday, involves golf. Fantastic.
