Absolutely chuffed with todays performance

Today I went out for a quick 11 holes, absolutely stunned myself with how well I played. Not that good compared to most of you on here, but I'm pleased as punch so I'm going to share it with you all !!! Here's how I got on....

Hole 2, par 5, 446 yds, 5
Hole 8, par 4, 322 yds 6

here comes the good bit !!

Hole 9, par 4, 262 yds 4
Hole 10, par 4, 340yds 4
Hole 11, par 4, 270 yds 4
Hole 12, par 3, 150 yds 3
Hole 13, par 4, 324 yds 4
Hole 14, par 3, 162 yds 3
Hole 15, par 4, 345 yds 5
Hole 16, par 4 365 yds 5


I par'd 6 holes in a row ! That has made my day/week/month/ year so far !!!!!!

I decided to leave the driver in the van and used a 3 wood instead, I may never use a driver again if I can play this well all the time.

I need 1 more card to hand in for my handicap, I hope I can play this well next time I play the full 18.

FYI, my course is a par 68, my 2 cards so far are for 85, and 90.

well played today looks like if your hitting your 3 wood like that it will be replacing your driver.

Its been said before but keeping it on the short stuff is the key to making a good score. You can't score well playing from trouble everytime so if it needs a 3 wood to keep you straight I see no problem with using it. If your partners try and encourage you to hit driver because you're not a man otherwise resist the temptation and ask them how they feel as you take their money.

I have to agree with the above. I was getting in all sorts of trouble with my driver, then a work colleague told me to forget about it and try the 3 wood, and ive never gone back

Another one in agreement with the above. Would rather be several yards shorter but in the short stuff. If like me you're getting a shot a hole, then why not make the most of it? Three straight down the fairway to within a few feet of the pin is better than a wild one off the tee and the lottery it throws up.

But then, I still want to cream one straight down the middle.

Seems this switch from a driver to 3 wood is catching... iv experianced some of the best scores iv had in a while too since dropping my driver! 78/79/76 in the last 2 months! the 78/79 were in comp so handicap lowered by just over a shot after standard scratch!
