Abigail is coming, she's a big girl and is very wet & windy, she's going to batter Scotland late today/tonight but we won't see that much of her down here thankfully, although there's going to be a sudden drop in temperature down here to mid-single figures on Friday followed by rising temperatures on Saturday bringing us a load of wet stuff over the weekend, flippin' great rain.gif

Gusts up to 35-40mph in Scotland, bit like when I played (walked around) at Silloth, I'm glad to live in the midlands at times, it all fizzles out a lot by the time it gets to us

They're forecasting 5* on Saturday morning for my round. Brrr! First taste of cold really this year. It's been ridiculously mild here in EA.

Always nice to have visitors :D - sure she'll have calmed down before she gets to the East coast - Met office has us down for 30-50mph winds

Not looking good for them links boys in the North West. You're gonna have to dig that 1 iron out of the understairs cupboard!

Forecast doesn't look good for us here either. Rain coming in this afternoon and even thunderstorms for tomorrow.

Expect it will be a rainy Saturday with the sarf getting the tailend of it

She's going to be battering the north west ( Western isles) with 80-90 MPH winds, we might get away with it here only 40MPH winds. down side is the cold front backing her up...snow tomorrow night in places and a drop in temp. Its been unseasonably mild here the last two months with temps hardly dropping below 10 deg and highs 20's during that time.

shorts may be off on saturday:(

Why have the UK started giving storms names?

Met Office says it raises awareness ?

It is hoped that naming storms will help raise awareness of severe weather and ensure people protect themselves.

A storm will be named when it is deemed potentially able to cause "substantial" impact on the UK or Ireland.

We might miss the worst too judging by the forecast, only gusting up to 60mph over night.
