I had the pleasure of playing in Auchterarder's invitational on Sunday; it's a cracking course with some great looking holes and fantastic views.
Unfortunately I had terrible start at the first and second made 6, 7 both short par 4's, thankfully my partner made nett pars, I honestly thought this was going to be a long hard day and was apologising to my partner on the third tee for my poor form.
Then I suddenly hit a rich vein of form playing the next 7 holes in level par and we had got to -4 at the turn.
At the 10th I made another solid par 4 nett 3 to go -5 and we were beginning to think we were in with a chance only to make a mess of it at the 11th when the best we could do was a very poor 7 net 6 for a double.
Luckily we got it right back with a 2 nett 1 at the 12th and then continued to score well on the way in.
We ended up -10, out in 32 back in 27 for a 59 winning by one with 2 magic 2's for a nice little bonus.
I think the fact I resigned myself to playing poor all day and not worrying about it helped me relax and play some of my best golf in a while.
