i own a set of golf clubs which were previously owned by ex professional golfer and family friend brian barnes, the bag the clubs are in has both pga tour and ryder cup tags on it. it is a full set of (i believe) ping clubs, which he used and gave to my father who gave them to me. what do you think the rough value on a set like this would be?
thanks

Not sure , why don't you try asking the PGA or a golf club where he played golf at as they buy them of you to display , The Ryder cup stuff be worth a few bob as he beat Nickalaus twice in a day I think ................................:oy:fore:

i dont have any pics atm, i will get some asap!! about me, well im a chef, and mountain biker from west sussex! i am not a golfer, hence i am interested in possibly selling the clubs! i have never used them and they are sat in storage atm and have been for quite a while! what else you wanna know? will try getting some pics sorted asap though fr you all!

I'll offer £8

Seriously though, impossible to say without knowing the makes, models and conditions.

If they're over about 25 years old, then the only club that's probably still got playing life in it is the putter as the technology has moved on so much. Irons as well potentially but could need reshafting if they're the original ones from the 80s.

So you're then looking at a collectors market and I have no idea whatsoever about the value of clubs in that arena. Might potentially not be a bad idea to find out where he was a member before he was pro, and get in touch with that club to see if they want to buy them to display?

With some more info re "what's in the bag" I could be interested.

until you have all the details how can anyone say what its worth it is like asking how much a car is worth! get full details what is in the bag and some pics and we will try. until then was of time or i would better the offer above and give you 9 pounds posted

Now if it is the set of bats he used to beat Nicklaus twice in the same day - then that would have some interest to a Ryder Cup collector or his club. But sure as eggs is they won't be - not Pings.
