I had the strangest round of my life today.

It was the January Stableford.

I started bogey - bogey so, standing on the 3rd tee I had 3 points.

A lost ball on the 3rd meant a blob.

A poor chip on the 4th meant another blob.

At this point I'm thinking that a 20 point round was very possibly on the cards....

I then birdied the 5th - OK, one shot back.

Par down the 6th, followed by a bogey down 7. Scrappy golf at it's best.

I then birdied 8 and 9 for 18 points at the turn. I'll take that.

The back nine was much more steady and I birdied 11, 13, 16 and 17.

So, standing on the 18th tee I'm 3 over. I hit a dreadful drive that drifts left, hits a tree and ends up in the middle of the fairway - result! The wind is right to left, the ball is above my feet and to the left of the green is a pond. I decide to aim a long way right for safety.

I pull the shot into the pond! Well done AW! I'll have a blob down the last then!

So, a round that included seven birdies also included three blobs!!!

The good news is that I should be off 7 after the cut.... :fore:

Anyone else ever had such a 'mixed bag' round??
