Much to Imurgs disgust I obtained a taylormade R11 driver from AG in slough the other day.

Tried it out on their simulator thingy, together with my current K15 and a couple of others

To cut a long story short, i got on quite well with the R11, about 30 yards longer than my K15, so got it for £280 which i was happy with.

Went out for 9 on Tuesday morning and it went very well Did a 245 yard drive in cold but dry conditions so was quite chuffed.

Went to the range at Wexham, Slough yesterday and after a few hits noticed a funny noise, just like a babies rattle, its quite a sharp sound and definately offputting.

Sounds like something has come off inside, I have taken out the shaft, weights and sole plate, but nothing falls out.

Methinks a trip back to AG to seek a replacement is in order :-(

And now a smug Imurg is reading this and laughing his head off

Oh boy you must be gutted. I am sure it will all get sorted but its still your new toy and must be frustrating. How come your bro does not want you to have an R11?

Highly disappointing... I'd be gutted but I'd take it back the following morning and wouldn't walk out without a new shiny one. :)

Ahhh......thats because AG import their R11's from China you see,....apparently its to do with import duties etc, and they have a nice little man who can get hold of very good cop........err.......sorry...very good supplies of them, and cheap too.

I'm sure they'l mak.....sorry....send you another.

:D ;)

fragger, you got on better than me. i got mine saturday from direct golf at £239 as they had a 20% off thing going.

on the vector i was getting a 265 carry with about 30 yards run out, compared with my 09 burner that was 245+25 yards, so all in about 25/30 yards up.

got to the course sunday and couldnt hit it for toffee. eneded up playing a 3 wood for most of the round. its hit a total of around 40 balls.... and may be up forsale shortly.

I was up the range at Wexham on Monday lunch time, tried the R11 and RAZR Hawk. The R11 was a rubbish flight for me but the Hawk was very consistent and much nicer on contact.

After intitally wanting an R11 I think it will be well down the list come the 27th when I get fit for a new driver.

Bet you end up with a 910... they seem too good to be true.

Sorry to hear about that Fragger. Always a bummer when anything new lets you down like that but they should replace it, no arguments.

I'm interested in the fact that the simulator is saying you (and Oddsocks) will gain 20 - 30 yards from this miracle wand over and above what you are getting from your current gear which is already high quality and fairly recent. Is it really that good? That is a huge improvement and the sort of numbers that persuade us to part with our hard earned cash. Smoke and mirrors or a real technological break through?

Would be really interested in feedback over the season. Let us know whether you are now hitting 7 iron to a green where you were previously hitting a 5. Same for anyone using the 910 and Razr too. Do they deliver what's promised?

That's where this forum can be great, real feedback from real golfers on real golf courses not the manufacturers' robots on artificial testing ranges or simulators that can be set up goodness knows how many different ways. £200-£300 is a fair bit of dosh for a club and we need to know if it's worth it.

Mine's hit at miss at the moment, but so are the rest of my clubs, so I can't really blame the driver at the minute. If I'm still struggling come the summer, I would use some birthday vouchers on a new'un and give it away or swap it (I would never sell it to make money, for obvious reasons!)

Mashie, the 2 i sort of got hold of on sunday went for miles, a good 20 yards past where i would have normally been with the same struck shot. Im convinced it is definately longer than my old burner, but recent stats from my old burner were more consistant in fairways hit. But with respect to the club sunday wasnt a good-swing day, everything was from the inside so nothing really clicked as it should. ive had 2 range sessions this week with a quick 10 mins with the pro to confirm what i thought what happening. so hopefully sunday will see a new day with some better results. One thing that was obvious was the swing i was using in the shop simulator was not present sunday.

If you give it away I will have first refusal!! Thanks, :D

I can't see how with all the restrictions in place they can produce a driver that will give me another 20 yards.

I have had about 4 drivers in the last 3 years, one of them fully c/f, and can safely say that the way I hit it is far more important then the club. A good hit with any of them is plenty long enough. A poor hit is rubbish. I can drive anywhere between 330 and 170 quite easily, and my swing is never the same twice running.

And for the OP, bad luck mate, I had this with my R7 quad. Used to call it the death rattle. Never bothered getting it fixed, but I am sure TM will change it for you.

It is never the club that is at fault.................

This is why I'm not rushing to trade mine in. I'm sure if I had a 910 I'd still be slicing it as much as the R11.

With all the technology, they're all much of a muchness.

100% right chris, the r11 just seemed to exagerate what fault was there. I have noticed the new blur shaft they using this yeah seems stiffer than the stock re-ax stiff fitted to the burner. Ill progress with it, to be honest the way i look at it is i paid less than most shops are selling for by the 20%. if i decide its not for me i wont lose hardly anything. most shops around here are struggling for 9* stiff stock so the demand must be there.

Incidently my burner is 9.5*, at the range on tuesday i opened the face by the shaft setting which is meant to increase the loft by .5* and increase spin rates by 500rpm. it seemed to go better on this setting. ;)
