Earlier in the week we played the SE KoK at Camberley. Needless to say it was a wonderful day. As our fourball made it way over to the 5th hole, we walked past another hole (maybe the 12th). We walked past a guy who was searching for his ball. Displaying good forum etiquette, Midnight and I stopped by and found his ball. He looked at the ball went to his bag and got his club. Not a iota of effort to say 'thank you'!! Surely he was not a forumer.

Question.. Is basic etiquette overrated?

Just a knob mate, you get them in all walks of life.

Personally, I wouldn't give his behaviour a second thought. He won't have chewed on it, or have posted it up on here. Sometimes you're better off doing something else than chewing over this sort of thing - he won't be.

Precisely my train of thought. Just be happy that you did something considerate for someone else...

You get prats like that in every club and walk of life. If I see a fellow players ball land where I'll be walking past, I'll point it out to them if they are in sight and if the someone does the same for me, I'll generally acknowledge with a thumbs up or a thank you.

Passing the pleasantries of the day, a "Good morning", or "Afternoon", or similar cost nothing and is just good manners, yet I've seen people duck their heads or look away rather than reply. Some just look at you as if you have two heads, some really odd folk out there.

You know what, the only thing on the course that really gets my goat is when people ignore the greenkeepers.. Every time I see one I generally give a small wave, a nod of the head, or even a "reet mate" if they're within speaking distance.. The amount of people I see who completely ignore them as if they're not important is surprising.. I genuinely think that some people can't even see them...

I complimented one on the size of his tool last weekend.
Take that as you wish :D

Agree.. but I think Midnight was deeply disturbed and that resulted in him having a poor game..

.. Midnight and I agreed that he was K**b (not to be confused with someone in our group who uses those alphabets to mark his ball... D'Oh here is his ball..

Didn't realise Smiffy was playing!

I agree with most on here. Some people are just like that, and whenever it happens to me, I think exactly what you thought for about 3 seconds, and then I forget about it. Can't spend my life stewing over something that I can't control.

As for the title of the thread, don't forget the response Vincent Vega received when he said exactly that to Mr Wolf, in Pulp Fiction... ;)

We have a greenkeeper who completely ignores the golfers - had a big argument with one about ten years ago and now will not talk to anyone or even acknowledge them. People say good morning to him and he just blanks them. People ask for directions etc ( visitors ) and he ignores them. I personally think it's very wrong when they are in a job where they will interact with other people and they need to understand they need to be pleasant when people say good morning etc to them
