My game so far during 2012 can be summed up by the 'thread title'.

Front 9 Stats:

8 Pars & 1 Bogey.
7 x 2 Putts / 1 x 1 Putt / 1 x 3 Putts
29% of Fariways Hit
89% of GIRs

Par: 35 / Shots: 36

Played some great golf on Front 9, I couldn't get a birdie putt to drop though!

Back 9 Stats:

4 Pars. 4 Bogeys & 1 Double Bogey.
3 x 1 Putt / 4 x 2 Putts / 2 x 3 Putts
57% of Fairwyas Hit
22% of GIRs Hit

Woeful Golf was played after my 2nd shot into the 13th where I tugged it left in to the long grass, found it, hacked it out and 3 putted. It was almost like my game went into meltdown. I went Par, Bogey, Par thorugh 10-12.

This has slowly crept into my game since the start of the year and it's worrying, anyone else had this problem?!

I don't like to think that 1 shot caused this blow up as I didn't get angry with myself, I just got on with my game, but nothing clicked after that 2nd shot in to the 13th :/

I still ended up with 37 points, but being +2 Gross after 12 and coming in 5 over for the last 6 holes is frustrating to say the least!

Perhaps the +2 on the front started to put some pressure on you and increased expectation? Perhaps you start to try and protect the good score you have going and without really thinking about it you change your gameplan and become a bit more conservative?

I'd have thought it's psychological rather than physical but just in case - do you carry a drink and some food? Have you drunk and eaten some of that before/at the turn?

Or is it simply the back 9 is tougher??

I think you might be right about it being pyschological rather than physical as I always carry drinks and food, I'm contasntly eating and drinking on the course.

The back 9 is tougher, but 10-12 are the tougher holes being SI5, SI1 & SI2!

It could well be myself putting on added pressure and actually not knowing it, but it is damn frustrating!

i went throug a 3 hole blip yesterday. i call it goin on tilt. the sooner you can put a stop to it the better. again it was low stroke indexed holes. a 3putt on par 5 to make bogey stated it for me. drove OB next hole in frustration when hybrid was called for off the tea. silly silly moves!

Looks like you need to drive it in the weeds more often:-)

Many good amateurs I know approach their rounds as 3 x 6 holes or even 6 x 3 holes to improve their chances of salvaging something.

Same thing happend to me yesterday - front 9 I had 4 pars and 5 bogeys and had 19 points on the card. Stopped half way to have a cuppa and a sandwich and went back out playing like i was beginner and got 10 points on the back 9 - oh well theres always next week!!

Something similar but didnt stop at all.
40 points (23 front 17 back) never hit a fairway all day and missed so many putts on our recovering and slightly hairy greens.
