After watching the golf on TV recently, there was a spot highlighting Gary Woodlands swing and the way the commentator described it, I thought it was very similar to what I do. I not saying I hit the ball as far as Woodland, far far from it, but I thought if I could emulate his swing I could improve mine.

So at the range I had an epiphany and my brain suddenly just doing what I had been trying to do for months and I was swinging the club inside, I was hitting straight shots, the huge slice had all but vanished.

Now, I have to concentrate on bring the club back down on the inside, it's by no way grooved in as second nature, but as I wrote above, something just clicked and it all fell into place.

It's been a long road but I'm getting there.

Till its gone and youre searching for the next magic pill....

I've had more false dawns and epiphany moments than I care to think about. Things click and for a few short rounds you think you have it cracked. Then it goes to rat poo again. Stupid game but if its working for you crack on and go low

I've had loads of eureka moments too. The most recent has been all about swinging the clubhead (not as obvious to me as it sounds)...and rthym.

Stopped thinking about elbows and hips etc and just swing the clubhead "naturally" to my own rthym (which feels much slower than it looks).

Previously I was so busy concentrating on my backswing that the whole swing was finished before I had time to think. Now it feels like I'm actually trying to hit a ball towards a target rather then just 'doing' a swing.

I take it you cant get the video of this? I always enjoy watching the konika Minolta while the commentator describes whats happening.

the other night I was watching Camilo Villegas and I thought ill try and emulate that swing. at the end the commentator says, if you want to swing like that you better be strong and flexable.

bust my bubble. I am neither of those things. :o

@Homer & TheClaw: OVer the past 18+ Months I've been having lessons, my swing was terrible, if I can somehw post up what I started with to where I am now I will, but needless to say I had so many really bad grooved in faults it was difficult to know where to start. With slow progress I improved and I 've had three eureka or epiphanies where something clicked and the swing got a lot better, I've also had many moments where I've been asked to change something and it's felt like 1 step forward and 3 back.

In my OP I wasn't saying I've suddenly cracked it, what perhaps didn't come across was that, this is just another eureka moment along the long path I have yet to travel to getting my swing where I want it to be. A good ways yet to go, but I will get there.

@Hobbit Cheers marra, but as the Pirelli advert once said, power is nothing without control, so I've taken it down from a Spinal Tap 11 and I'm playing at around a 7 or 8.

Tried this last night at the driving range, to damn hard, I think I've pulled something in the process as well.
