Hi All,
I played on Sunday for the first time in eight weeks, I have been practicing every day in the net and on Saturday I had the best and most constructive range session that allowed me to correlate what I was doing in the net was the right thing.
The course was packed on Sunday and as a result I played poorly for nine holes, we then went back to the first to avoid more of the same on the back nine. Suddenly I was able to use what I had been working so hard on.
Third hole(12th hole we played), par four, 393 Yard SI 4 slight dog leg. I let off a lovely drive with a big draw on it landing on the 150 marker. Exactly the shape I wanted, landing in the exact spot I asked it to. I spend a moment going through my club selection, 150 to the front, the pin looked about 15/18 foot on. I requested my 7 iron to land exactly on the front of the green and run at the pin. Hit the 7 with the sweetest 7 yard draw, it landed a foot on the green and started to run at the hole finishing 2 foot from the pin. Easy tap in birdie.
OK this is a story about a Birdie, not exactly newsworthy but for me the feeling and execution of these two shots are a clear sign that I am learning to control and manipulate the ball. I have known this has been coming for a while and under pressure it is not where it needs to be but I am bursting at the seems with excitement.
I went on to hit a few more GIR, struck the ball very well, specially irons and wedges and won the game having been 4 points back.
