Can someone recommend me a set of, what you consider, the most unforgiving irons you can think of :D

Brand, age, model, all will be considered.

I'm looking to do a little scientific(..ish) testing over the winter.

Thanks in advance

G15s are supposed to be one of the most forgiving irons out there

why Gareth? its fun and all that to hit a blade, but try the wafer thin jobbies from the 70's with tiny grips and you'll find it very different:rolleyes:

My old man has got some carving knives in his garage if you want me to dig them out? :D

On a serious note why dont you just have a look at some old ish style blades off ebay. They look hard to pick up never mind hit

Any Wilson staff hobbies Pal....Iv heard of these mentioned a good bit but never seen them in the flesh..their probably as thin as any.... Although I was a 70's baby so wouldn't have had them in my hand....

I'll bite, what exactly are you trying to find out? Old vs new comparison? Trying to disprove the idea of anything being unforgiving? I am mildly curious...but could your pennies be better spent?

Any of the 'old style' blades Titleist 690, 681, or further back.

Mizuno MP33s or older - back to TP11s.

Early Hogan Apex Blades.

I presume you are going the 'if i can hit these well, I can hit anything!'.

Be careful! I bought some TP9s for that reason and was hooked on the feel of blades after 3 hits!

In terms of unforgiving, I believe it's more the shaft that makes them that way. I had a TM Burner 1 Iron with a TT100 shaft. That certainly gave feedback!

As mentioned above, any of the lower TP series 11's etc. Off the fairway, no set of irons is impossible to hit well-ish, its when you have clubs with virtually no bounce and anything more than a trimmed fairway, they become impossible to judge.

Any of these shoud fit the bill!

Love these, they look like the sort of irons Batman would use:

But I think you'll find these the hardest of all to hit...

This has got me thinking of an alternative forum meet; you have to play a set bought from ebay. Blades for less than £20, and persimmon woods.

Spalding Top Flite blades circa 1985, least forgiving things I ever hit, and they too gave feedback, especially if hit "off the bottom groove"!! Think Greg Norman used to use them. The old Wilson Staffs were like cavity backs in comparison.
