jeez, the lowest has earned $680,000

never even heard of half of them at least, talk about a gravy train!

I know its not easy and the US is huge but its not like they are gonna go skint for a few years.

Is there too much money in golf? or is it just rewards

To me it should be more top-loaded.

I know the winners get a lot already but I would prefer a smaller purse overall with the same winners cheque to make it more of an incentive.

Not being disresepctful as these guys around 125 are infinitely more talented than me but, from the outside looking in, it seems too easy to "coast" to a card. i.e. make it through the cut and you're laughing because of the money involved rather than having to push on to make as much as you can.

just seems a bit of a cash cow, dont get me wrong it takes a lot of talent to make it as a touring pro but jeex, some of the money is ridiculous

try telling that to the guy who's just lost his card by $364

or the guy whos just made it by $23.

i dont think you can say its easy when were watching people put for par at the 18th to keep their cards or lose it. it takes a lot play out there especially when u consider the amount of golfers there must be in america.

Don't forget even the lowest earners get princely sums from sponsors etc.
OK it's hard at the bottom of the pack but you only need 1 good week and you're made.

Well, Luuuke gets another $845k for the last 4 days work..

I think it's more to do with bragging rights although there may be a Trophy.

I agree, fair enough you have to win a major to get there but 4th place at the Grand Slam walked away with $125,000. If ever there was one tournament that should be a winner takes all?

Financial rewards, gains etc or not it is a tough life for the boys on or around the cut line. Weeks at a time away from the family, travel costs, accommodation etc, bills to pay caddies to pay etc etc.

Its not all glamour of private jets, personal managers, sponsors cars, appearance fees etc. The top of the tree have it great, no so for the ones fighting for the scraps.

Can't imagine those at the bottom end are actually puapers but take out tax (even the IRS want their slice) entrance fees, caddy's, hotels and travelling then clearly they aren't actually living on $600k. I thought a lot of these guys have to pay their own way and living away from home for weeks on end, struggling to make cuts etc must be pretty hard mentally. I'd swap with any of them in a blink of an eye and there are harder ways to earn a crust
