If you had a piece of Golf equipment for sale, would you clean it before posting pictures ?

I've notice over the years plenty of stuff gets put on the for sale section straight off the course.

clean it or are you are bugger it stick it on anyway type of guy or girl?

I'd clean, only takes 2 minutes
But then again, I keep my clubs clean anyway

My mate has a shop, buys, sells, trades, anything golf related, and he loves it when people bring in dirty clubs.....just laziness surely??

I have bought a number of clubs on Ebay, only for myself not commercially, sold some as well when they don't behave. Before I buy I will track the type I want and get a feel for the price I will need to pay, when to pull out etc. Dirty clubs definitely sell for less overall. My eyes light up when someone posts pics of a dirty club as I know I have a good chance of getting a bargain. A spotlessly clean club will go for a premium. Obvious to most but thankfully not to all.

Clean your clubs, take plenty of pictures and you will get a fair price for your clubs. Leave them dirty, take one or two pictures only, maybe even out of focus and you will only get a fraction of its worth. Not rocket science but plenty are too lazy to bother.

Bought a 3wood a few years back which was absolutely awful, sky marks, shaft rub, worn grip, ripped headcover the lot. I cleaned it to take photos to send to resolution centre so the chancer got it back cleaner than he sent it to me, was tempted to hit dirt a few times to put it back to his idea of acceptable

About 4 years ago I bought some 2nd hand Mizuno MP53's from a well known Golf Pro/retailer in the area. They were on the rack but hadnt had a clean for the last 5 rounds at least. Took a couple of irons out onto the range to try, added a bit of spit and gave them a wipe and they were spotless underneath all the muck, practically like new. Needless to say I bought them.

i bought a pair of shoes that looked for all the world that the seller had been wearing to dance in a field of jobbies.

fortunately had made an attempt at cleaning before they came to me. cheap, but not a massive bargain in the end.

Of course I would, same goes for selling anything. Even if I was taking my clubs for a fitting I would make sure they were all sparkly :)

I'm confused, surely you would want them dirty to send the photos to the resolution centre?

I buy new 99% of the time, but I wouldn't buy anything second hand that hadn't had a spruce up. If I was selling something I'd make sure it looked as good as it could.

I really can't understand why anyone wouldn't clean it up first

It only takes a minute.

In comparison to the damage that had been done the dirt was little to complain about. The bulk of the resolution was the 8/10 no skymark head(two skymarks and heavy face scratches), 9/10 grip(golf pride logo almost worn off and cracks appearing at the thin end), 9/10 headcover(large rips in the mesh and a lot of cracked vinyl) and 9/10 shaft with 2 clear areas of bag rub. And on top of that he didn't even book a courier until two days after the auction ended while he waited for a club he had bought to be delivered so he could use the box. Great ebay experience that one:rolleyes:
